A classic icon is back but this time you won’t need to bedazzle it with stick-ons.

Motorola have released a very much updated Razr, a flip phone that is just as functional folded or unfolded.

The Motorola Razr 50 Ultra has a full cover screen coming in at 4 inches, where with swipes you can perform most tasks that you can when the smartphone is unfolded.

There’s even cover screen games.

Unfolded you’re looking at a 6.9 inch AMOLED with a 165Hz refresh and Dolby Vision. It’s sharp.

But there has been little attempt to ‘hide’ the center crease. It’s very visible both when the screen is on or off. But hey, we are talking about a foldable, right. Of course there’s a crease.

Motorola’s Razr Ultra 50 doesn’t only impress on its visuals, it brings the camera specs that knock out other foldables.

The internal (selfie) camera is 32MP with the rear seeing a dual 50MP set up. Most likely you’ll use the rear lenses more than the 32MP, as you can take Insta-worthy selfies with the phone folded.

There’s even a wrist flick gesture to open the camera app. This never worked for me though, and I can also imagine a few Motorola Razr 50 Ultra’s being flung across the room with this as well.

The Motorola Razr 50 Ultra is also bringing sexy back, well, a sexy back – the lower half of the rear casing is vegan leather. Nice.

Spec wise, the Motorola Razr 50 Ultra doesn’t disappoint.

Storage has you at 512GB coupled with 12GB RAM, but no RAM Booster.

Crunching the data is a Snapdragon 8s Gen 3.

To get you through a day, well actually, more than a day, the Motorola Razr 50 Ultra has a 4,000mAh battery packed in to it, with wireless charging.

Low, yes, but it somehow works and it seems to last longer than other flips.

Potentially this is due the front cover screen being fully functional and useable, so you’re not needing to unfold all of the time.

The front cover screen is truly where it’s at, Motorola have already added the bedazzling for you.

If there is any downside to the Motorola Razr 50 Ultra, it is the price point, being more expensive than any of its competitors.

A fun, pocketable smartphone that’s ready to go when you are and go everywhere with you. The Motorola Razr 50 Ultra is what a flip / foldable phone should be.

Motorola are giving us the edge with their newest lineup of Android based smartphones.

The flagship of the Edge series, the Motorola Edge 50 Pro comes with the goods without the hefty price tag.

Three cameras at the rear start out with a 50MP main lens, joined by a 10MP telephoto and 13MP ultrawide.

For your professional, social network worthy selfies you’ve got an additional 50MP camera. That’s more than other competitors top shelf devices offer and overly generous.

The Motorola Edge 50 Pro records video, either front facing or rear camera’s at 4K and makes use of adaptive A.I.

From image enhancement, stabilization through to subject tracking, your content creating vids are always going to be smooth, even if the path is bumpy or your subject is erratically moving about.

There’s a wide menu of shooting and pic taking modes on offer and I’m pleased to say that the Night Vision photo’s come out, well, a bit too dark.

Inside the Motorola Edge 50 Pro you’ve got a Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 processor crunching the data coupled with 256GB storage and 12GB RAM (model reviewed).

The P-OLED 6.7 inch screen is rich in colour and detail and has curved edges, making the Motorola Edge 50 Pro all screen, with little bordering top and bottom.

Battery wise you get a 4,500mAh. That’s not too bad.

If you’re an average phone user, you’re set for a couple of days, easily. However, as this phone’s features are slated towards photo snapping and video content I would’ve liked to see a bit more battery power here.

This said, when testing out the Motorola Edge 50 Pro camera, normal usage and mobile gaming, the battery life held up very well.

Whether you’re in to content creation, mobile gaming, or simply just after a smartphone that’s got superior quality camera’s the Motorola Edge 50 Pro is where it’s at.

Motorola are most definitely back in the mobile phone race.

Their moto edge duo of models offer up a lot of tech goodness at a way lower price point than Samsung and OPPO combined for a mid-range Android.

The more budget friendly moto edge 50 fusion has a dual camera array at the rear, with the first primary lens coming in at 50MP.

This is joined by a 13MP wide. Your front pinhole camera doesn’t fail to disappoint either at 32MP.

There’s a huge menu of camera options and unlike the lower Motorola models, the night shots on the moto edge 50 fusion are near perfect.

Video records at 4K 1080p with either front or back camera’s making this a content creators ideal smartphone.

Under the hood the specs are better than expected too.

Crunching the data we have a Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 with storage at 256GB (model reviewed) and 8GB RAM (as well as RAM Boost).

The moto edge 50 fusion has a pOLED 6.7 inch screen with a 120Hz refresh.

There’s an almost zero bezel top and bottom and as the device’s name suggests, the phone has screen edging. I’ve always loved this on prior top model handsets a few years ago, and here we have it on a middle of the road smart device.

If you’re not wanting to pay thousands for a more than capable smartphone that has mobile gaming capabilities, the moto edge 50 fusion is where it’s at.

From your basic casual games, emulators and even console quality titles, the moto edge 50 fusion can handle the lot.

To get you through the moto edge 50 fusion is powered by a generous 5,000 mAh battery.

Using the moto edge 50 fusion as my daily for a week it has only needed one full charge up in 7 days. I’m not a light mobile user and this also included game time.

While quick charge is great if you’re caught short (around 50% in 10 – 15 minutes), the moto edge 50 fusion does not have wireless charging.

The moto edge 50 fusion is an extremely nice looking smartphone, it has some of the features that other brands’ top shelf handsets have yet manages to pack all of that in to a price tag well under any of its competitors.

The march of the Motorola’s continues as the mobile phone legends make a comeback with mid-tier Android based smartphones for everyone.

Having just finished off the moto g04, the lower end offering in their mid level smartphones, we take a step up with the moto g24.

Offering the same LCD screen size at 6.5 inches, as you would expect, the moto g24 has a few more chops than its sibling.

Dual cameras are on the back, coming in at 50MP for the main camera and a 2MP macro.

Now the macro is outstanding. For those that like to do extreme closeups the moto g24 excels.

There’s a few more camera modes on offer too, Portrait, which features a real bokeh effect, Slow Motion for video and again a Night mode… that was better than the g04 but still definitely not quite there.

The front ‘selfie camera’ weighs in at a low 8MP. This is still enough for video calls, vlogging and snaps are still sharp enough for those that want to take those awe-inspiring selfies.

moto g24 – Macro mode

Under the hood we get 4GB RAM and 128GB internal storage. This can be expanded upon via microSD, and likely if you are going to be using the video which records at 1080p / 30fps your internal 128GB is going to chomped up real quick.

Crunching the data is an Octa Core processor. It’s good enough but you’re not going to be able to be a multi-tasking wiz on the moto g24.

The stuttering and lag of Android 14 experienced on the moto g04 was also prevalent on the g24.

While it is sporadic, there was, at times, noticeable delays when using gesture based control of the phone.

moto g24 – Night mode

Battery wise, you’ll be set for a few days (depending on usage of course).

Given that the moto g24 is not a powerhouse of a smartphone, there was no game time or anything too heavy. Streaming media, general web browsing, using social apps and emailing on a day to day basis the 5,000 mAh battery managed to last almost 2 days from a single charge to 10%.

As mentioned, you’ll not be able to do anything too taxing on the moto g24, its limitations are both the RAM and the processor, so given that this is a general use phone, with a very sharp camera, you’re not likely to place too much strain on the battery.

The moto g24 is a fairly good all-rounder for a mid-tier device. It has a more than decent set of lenses for family, travel, pet and more snaps and has a super reliable longevity when it comes to battery.

For a first smartphone, or a secondary to travel abroad with the moto g24 is excellent.

Hello moto.

Motorola have been in the mobile game since forever.

Their late 90s early 2000s flip phones were in every mobile phone user’s pocket, Motorola has recently made a come back, and now releasing their G Series of Android based smartphones for the masses.

At a price tier affordable to pretty much everyone, the first model we received here for review at STG is the moto g04.

A contender within Motorola’s entry to mid range level there’s no denying that on the face of it the g04 has some bang for less than a couple of hundred dollars.

A single lens coming in at 16MP wide is your main camera, and it does a pretty good job.

For those inspirational selfies there’s a very low 5MP single front camera.

Camera modes on offer are slim. Portrait works well but doesn’t quite get to the bokeh level that I had expected.

For low light, or no light shots there is a Night mode. It doesn’t work out so well. In a near-to-zero lit environment you’re not going to see anything in your pics.

Video is good at 1080p / 30fps. Clear and not too choppy.

For general photography, the moto g04 punches above its weight.

moto g04 – Portrait mode

The LCD display is large at 6.5 inches. Bright and dynamic enough to make the moto g04 worthy of media streaming and some serious screen time.

Under the hood there’s 4GB RAM with a Octa Core Cortex-A55 processor and 64GB storage (model reviewed)

While the storage is low, shoot a few 1080p videos and you’re going to be caught short, you can expand via microSD.

Given that the moto g04 is not a high priced device, the innards are more than adequate and the phone seems to handle itself mostly well.

moto g04 – Night mode

Except… the UI of Android 14 on the moto g04 tended to be clunky and stutter on use sporadically. Swiping between apps and using gesture based control there was a notable delay at times in the OS’ responsiveness.

Battery wise, the moto g04 excels. There’s a 5,000mAh powercell which I managed to squeeze four days from (full charge to 2%).

Given that the moto g04 is not quite the device for some serious multi-tasking or gaming, you’re likely to use it as a simple starter smartphone, with browsing, social, messaging etc but nothing overly heavy.

So the impact on battery will generally be minimal.

This was the same when using the camera – it hardly dented the battery charge.

The moto g04 does give you a decent ‘everyday’ camera with a powerful lens, it’s not a powerhouse of a smartphone, but it’s not meant to be.

Perfect for those that are wanting quality daytime snaps with basic smartphone functionality, and when you compare it to other smartphones of similar spec and build, the moto g04 makes sense as a viable option for your next entry-level mobile.
