Multi award-winning artist SWIDT are set to release The Most Electrifying EP, a collection of blazing new tracks that will cement them as New Zealand’s formidable Hip Hop collective. The 6-track EP features fan-favourite ‘Who Run It’ and the latest single ‘Praise’, which is out now.

On the release, Spycc explains “There were strong vibes and good energy in the room during these sessions. Everything came together so effortlessly. You really can’t buy that kind of chemistry. I feel like that translates strongly through the music”

To mark the release, SWIDT are going to be the first New Zealand artist to premiere new music via a game of Fortnite being live streamed from LPL HQ. Based in New Zealand, LPL (LetsPlayLive) is a specialised esports media company which operates on a global level. Being avid Fornite players, SWIDT promise to put on a display of prestige gaming whilst fans are treated to new music.

The stream will go live at 7pm on Thursday the 26th July, 2018 and can be watched live HERE.

SWIDT will also be joining SIX60 at Western Springs, Auckland New Zealand on February the 23rd, 2018 for the now-historic live concert, playing to over 41,000 fans.

The heat of New Zealand’s summer bore down on the massive crowds as the twelve hour music festival kicked into action.

Samsung New Zealand invited us from STG to attend Auckland City Limits which boasted both local and big name artists across six massive stages (six including the Kiddie Limits area).

Local groups such as SWIDT, Katchafire, P Money, Scribe and more played alongside international giants; Justice, Beck, Sigrid and the legendary Grace Jones.

In all there were over thirty five bands or artists catering for most genres from indie to pop through to hip hop and electric, spread across the stages at the massive open area that is Western Springs Park in Auckland, New Zealand.

As with any large outdoor festival it was a case of checking the play schedule online and traversing across the green to each stadium to catch the acts that you had come to see.

Tash Sultana interacted with her audience and displayed her amazing array of musical talents, Sigrid played a selection of her well known tracks and DJ Tina Turntables had the crowds pumping.

While U.S. rap artist Justice failed to impress with his low key energetic performance. Head Like a Hole did not fail to deliver and Beck overly impressed his captivated attendees… and then there was one of the final acts of the day; the pioneer-ess, the legend that is Grace Jones.

Myself and the entire crowds at the Aroha Stage were left wanting more as Grace both engaged and mesmerized us with her artistry, spontaneity and a mix of her new material and signature classics such as ‘Pull Up to the Bumper’ being her outro song.

Auckland City Limits was a day for music fans of every genre. A day for families, friends and those that just wanted to kick back and chill on the grass.

Our mates at Edifier also featured with a non-stop Silent Disco.

Auckland City Limits was THE music event of 2018 and if you weren’t among the thousands of attendees, you have twelve months to prep yourself to be at the next one.

The backbone of surprise is fusing speed with secrecy, and Onehunga’s favorite sons have delivered both with the surprise release of STONEYHUNGA: The Bootleg EP, out today.

Following an innovative trend amongst Hip Hop’s elite like Jay-Z, Kanye West, Young Thug and Future, surprise album releases – recorded in secret and traditionally un-timed – usually wind up being instant classics amongst fans. SWIDT felt the concept needed a local spin, and wanted to start 2018 with a BANG following a big 2017 that saw the group take home Tui’s for Best Hip Hop Album and Best Group.

Releasing songs built up from sessions recorded in LA, UK and SWIDT’s home base of Onehunga, the SWIDT team wanted to keep local fans excited and showcase some of the big international collaborations produced by in-house producer SmokeyGotBeatz across the year.

“We had so many dope records from all the session for our debut, we didn’t want to waste them, so we decided on a surprise “EP” to hold the audience over till our sophomore album drops later in the year” says Spycc

International features include platinum US R&B singer TeeFLii (DJ Mustard) and UK Grime MC Novelist, alongside local features from High Hoops (Leisure) and the New Zealand Hip Hop posse cut “Off The Top” – featuring the who’s who of the next hottest MCs Diggy Dupe, MeloDownz, JessB & Rizvan.

Produced entirely by SmokeyGotBeatz with additional production by Jamal, STONEHUNGA: The Bootleg EP is a surprise release for the internet age and is guaranteed to make your speakers vibrate.
