BLAST has officially named EFM Global as its Official Global Logistics Partner, tasking the world-leading logistics specialist with managing the production and technical infrastructure behind more than 20 international esports events each year.

Under the agreement, EFM Global will play a central role in delivering BLAST’s world-class tournaments across multiple regions. That responsibility covers the movement and setup of critical production equipment, staging, and broadcast technology required to deliver a consistent Tier 1 esports experience worldwide.

Each BLAST event involves the transportation of up to 18 tonnes of air freight, alongside multi-container sea freight and international road transport. EFM will also oversee the movement of server farms, broadcast systems, staging structures, truss builds, LED architecture, and competition-grade technology kits that power both live audiences and global broadcasts.

It brings together the best student players from more than 800 colleges and universities across Divisions I, II, and III, all competing for national titles in games like Super Smash Bros. NRG have cemented themselves as Rocket League’s best after taking down Team Falcons 4-1 to win the RLCS World Championship 2025 inside the LDLC Arena in Lyon, France.

The North American side lifted the trophy in front of nearly 10,000 fans, securing $300,000 in prize money and writing themselves into Rocket League history as one of only three organisations to ever win two world titles.

NRG’s Road to Glory

NRG arrived in Lyon as the top North American seed and quickly showed why they were considered favourites. They opened with a nail-biting 3-2 win over Ninjas in Pyjamas, followed by a 3-1 victory against Team Secret to book their playoff spot.

In the upper bracket quarter-final, the all-American clash against The Ultimates went down to the wire, but NRG edged it 4-3 to advance. Their semi-final was far more straightforward, cruising past Geekay Esports 4-0 to set up a blockbuster Grand Final against Team Falcons, who had been the top-performing LAN team of the year.

Game one went NRG’s way with a hard-fought 3-2 win, but Falcons immediately struck back with a 1-0 victory in game two. From there, though, NRG turned on the style, rattling off three straight wins to close out the series 4-1 and claim the championship.

Adding to the firestorm was a viral clip from Team Spirit’s CS2 captain Leonid “chopper” Vishnyakov, who joked that Falcons’ supporters were just “300 hired workers” told to chant in the stands.

What might have been throwaway banter quickly blew up. Falcons fans, especially in the Arab community, saw it as a serious insult, and chopper’s socials were flooded with backlash. Event staff even asked him to delete the video, and reports claim he may need private security while in Riyadh.

The UK-based esports organisation Guild Esports, once backed by David Beckham and hailed as one of Britain’s biggest hopes in competitive gaming, has officially shut its doors. The company confirmed the closure in a statement, citing financial challenges and the wider economic climate as reasons why it could no longer keep operating.

But behind the polished announcement, many within the community are left frustrated, and in some cases, unpaid.

From Beckham’s Backing to Bankruptcy

Guild Esports burst onto the scene in 2020 with big promises and even bigger names. With former England and Manchester United star David Beckham on board as a part-owner, the organisation quickly secured high-profile partnerships with Sky and Subway, and made history as the first esports team to be publicly listed on the London Stock Exchange.

The hype, however, didn’t translate to financial success. Guild’s stock price tumbled over the years, dropping more than 90% from its early peak. Despite raising funds and even selling a 25% stake in Ginx TV, the organisation never found solid financial ground. Losses ballooned, reportedly around the £2m mark, and by October 2024, US investment firm DCB Sports LLC stepped in, acquiring Guild for just £100k plus £2m in liabilities.

DCB, which also owns stakes in Venezia FC and the Monaco Women’s football team, kept the brand alive for less than a year before putting it up for sale on an insolvency market earlier this month. With no buyer found, Guild has now folded completely.

Despite the financial mess, Guild’s rosters did manage to find success. The squad’s run was nothing short of dominant, taking down some of the biggest names in the game on their way to the title.

Early dominance in groups

Karmine Corp kicked things off with a statement win, sweeping Virtus.pro 3-0 in their opening group stage clash. Their next test came against North American powerhouse NRG, with a playoff spot on the line.

The SONY MVP Award went to Samy “dralii” Hajji, who put in a standout performance across the tournament. The Moroccan star has now gone back-to-back at EWC, having won the 2024 title with Team BDS. Meanwhile, Team Falcons added crucial points with a third-place finish after beating Vitality in one of the most dramatic endings of the tournament. In a bizarre last-second play, Vitality’s ExoTiiK demolished an opponent only to accidentally redirect the ball into his own net, gifting Falcons the win.

Team Falcons looked unstoppable, tearing through the group stage without dropping a map and cruising past G2 Stride in the semis. But then came Team BDS, the scrappy survivors of the lower bracket, who flipped the script and shut down Falcons 4–2 in a tense final.
