Sony has officially confirmed the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog lineup for April 2026, and it’s a sizeable drop. Eight games are landing on 21 April, headlined by Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered, The Crew Motorfest, and Football Manager 26 Console for Extra and Premium subscribers, plus the PS2 cult classic Wild Arms 4 making its way to the Premium-tier Classics catalogue.

It’s a noticeably stronger month than the recent average, with a mix of major first-party content, a competent racing alternative, and a few left-field picks that genre fans have been waiting on. Here’s the full lineup, what each game actually offers, and what you need to know before download day.

Full PS Plus April 2026 Game Catalog Lineup

All eight titles unlock together on 21 April. Seven are available to anyone subscribed at the Extra tier or higher, while Wild Arms 4 sits behind the Premium paywall as part of the Classics catalogue.

One quirk to flag on Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered: PS5 owners get the proper remastered edition, while PS4 players will be downloading the older Horizon Zero Dawn Complete Edition instead. Same starting point, different versions.

Motorfest packs hundreds of vehicles and a festival-style event structure spanning Honolulu’s streets, rainforest trails, mountain passes, and volcanic terrain. It’s not the deepest racing sim on the platform, but as a free addition it slots neatly into the gap.

Football Manager 26 Console

The big one for football fans. This entry marks the first time the Premier League has been fully licensed in the series, which is a genuinely meaningful change for a franchise where authenticity is half the appeal. The console version comes with a rebuilt Match Day presentation, fresh motion capture, and refined controller shortcuts that make tactical tweaks between highlights faster. Worth picking up just for the league licence alone if you’ve been on the fence.

Warriors: Abyss

Koei Tecmo’s roguelite take on the Warriors formula. Over 100 historical heroes are summonable as party members, and the loop centres on running successive trials of hell with combined hero abilities. It’s a niche genre crossover, but the deck-of-warriors mechanic gives it more legs than a straight Musou clone.

Squirrel with a Gun

The title is the pitch. You’re a rodent, you’ve got firearms, and you’re escaping a secret underground facility while collecting golden acorns. It’s a sandbox shooter slash puzzle platformer that leans entirely into its absurdity, and it’s the kind of palate-cleanser that works well as a free download rather than a full-price purchase.

The Casting of Frank Stone

Supermassive Games’ branching-narrative horror, set within the Dead by Daylight universe. Standard Until Dawn-style mechanics where decisions ripple through the story and characters can live or die based on your choices. Sony positioning this on the catalogue ahead of Supermassive’s next title, Directive 8020, releasing next month is no coincidence.

Monster Train

Long-overdue arrival on PlayStation for one of the most respected roguelike deckbuilders of the past few years. The hook is defending three vertical battlegrounds simultaneously, with six monster clans, 25 covenant difficulty levels, and over 280 cards to build around. If you’ve burnt out on Slay the Spire or Balatro, this is the next logical stop.

Wild Arms 4

The Premium-only addition, and the one with the most surprising backstory. Originally released on PS2 in 2005 in Japan and 2006 in the West, Wild Arms 4 was the entry that broke from the series’ western-themed aesthetic and divided fans at launch, though it’s since picked up a cult following. The new release adds up-rendered visuals, quick save, rewind, and custom video filters. It’s also being sold standalone on the PlayStation Store for $14.99 USD if you’d rather not subscribe to Premium.

This addition also means the bulk of the Wild Arms series is now playable on modern PlayStation hardware. Wild Arms 1 through 3 were already available, leaving only Wild Arms 5 and the PSP spinoff Wild Arms XF outside the modern catalogue.

Traysia, a mostly forgotten 1992 Sega Genesis JRPG developed by the now-defunct Telenet Japan, is making a surprise comeback on modern platforms. Publishers Ratalaika Games and Shinyuden have confirmed the game will launch on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam on April 24, 2026.

A Deep Cut From The Mega Drive Library

For those unfamiliar, Traysia (known as Minato no Traysia in Japan) is a traditional fantasy RPG that follows a young adventurer named Roy as he leaves his hometown to explore the world. The game’s story is told across five scenarios, blending classic party-based RPG mechanics with a romance narrative centred on Traysia, a girl who waits for Roy’s return in their home port town of Johanna.

The game originally launched on the Sega Mega Drive in 1991 in Japan before receiving a North American localisation from Renovation Products for the Genesis. To put it kindly, it was not well received. The Japanese magazine Famitsu scored it just 13 out of 40, while Beep! Mega Drive Magazine gave it 5.25 out of 10. The North American release fared roughly the same, and UK publication Sega Pro singled out the game’s poor graphics and shallow gameplay in an import review from 1993. German outlet Video Games compared it unfavourably to far stronger Mega Drive RPGs of the era, including the Phantasy Star series and Shining in the Darkness.

Not Its First Revival

Despite that underwhelming reception, Traysia has quietly experienced a second life in recent years. The game appeared in Evercade’s Renovation Collection 1 back in 2022, and then received a brand new physical cartridge release in 2025 courtesy of Shinyuden, Ratalaika Games, and Edia. That physical re-release featured a redone English translation along with an all-new Spanish language option.

The upcoming digital release appears to be based on that 2025 version. The Steam page lists Spanish as an available language alongside English and Japanese, which strongly suggests it carries over the updated localisation work rather than shipping with the original, rougher translation.

Modern Quality-Of-Life Features

As with most retro re-releases from Ratalaika, this version of Traysia comes bundled with a set of emulation-based convenience features designed to smooth out the rougher edges of a 30-plus-year-old game.

• Rewind and Turbo functions let players undo mistakes or speed through slower sections at will.
• Save states allow saving and loading at any point, removing reliance on the original save system.
• Screen filters offer visual options including retro-style monitor effects and a black-and-white mode.
• Cheats such as infinite lives and invulnerability are available for those who just want to experience the story.
• A gallery features artwork from the original game’s manual and box design.
• A jukebox provides access to all 21 music tracks composed by Shinobu Ogawa, who also worked on the Valis series. The soundtrack is widely considered one of the game’s few genuine highlights.

Pricing And Availability

Traysia launches across all platforms on April 24, 2026. A price has not yet been announced, and the PlayStation Store page has yet to go live at the time of writing. The game is already available to wishlist on Steam for those keen to grab it on PC at launch.

Whether Traysia deserves a second chance is genuinely debatable, but the quality-of-life additions and updated translation at least give curious players a far more accessible way to find out for themselves. Sony has confirmed the PlayStation Plus monthly games for April 2026, and it’s a solid lineup. All PS Plus members can claim Lords of the Fallen, Tomb Raider I-III Remastered, and Sword Art Online: Fractured Daydream from Tuesday, 7 April through Monday, 4 May.

The announcement follows earlier leaks that had already revealed some of the titles, though not the full picture. Tomb Raider I-III Remastered turned out to be the surprise addition that the leaks missed.

What’s In The April 2026 PS Plus Lineup

All three titles are available to every PS Plus tier, not just Premium or Extra subscribers. You’ll have from 7 April to 4 May to add them to your library.

Lords Of The Fallen

Lords of the Fallen is a Soulslike set in an interconnected world five times larger than the original game. You play as a Dark Crusader journeying through the realms of the living and the dead to overthrow Adyr, a resurrected demon god. The game’s standout mechanic is swapping between two parallel versions of the world to solve puzzles and find new paths through its environments.

With nine character classes and hundreds of weapons, there’s a fair bit of build variety on offer. IGN scored it an 8/10, calling it “a great Soulslike” and praising the dual-world system as “an excellent twist to set it apart from the pack.” It joins PS Plus ahead of its sequel, which is set to launch later this year.

Tomb Raider I-III Remastered

This collection bundles Lara Croft’s first three adventures with all expansions and secret levels, brought to modern platforms with upgraded graphics. You can toggle between the remastered visuals and the original polygon look at any time, which is a neat touch for long-time fans. A new Challenge Mode lets you replay levels with custom modifiers and unlock 10 new outfits that give Lara additional abilities.

The timing of this freebie is notable. Tomb Raider I-III Remastered recently drew criticism from fans over new cosmetic additions that were accused of looking like AI-generated assets. Developer Saber Interactive’s staff who worked on the original remaster said the new additions had nothing to do with them. Sword Art Online: Fractured Daydream

The third game in the lineup is Sword Art Online: Fractured Daydream, a co-op action title built around large-scale multiplayer boss fights. The story follows Kirito after a system called Galaxia causes characters from across the Sword Art Online timeline to be displaced, bringing together allies and enemies from various story arcs.

It supports up to 20 players in a single session, split across five parties of four. There are 21 playable characters, each with a specific battlefield role, so preparation and team composition matter when tackling the high-difficulty raid bosses.

Before you get stuck into April’s lineup, make sure you’ve claimed March’s offerings. A Free Game That Did Not Last

Sony has removed Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun from player libraries nearly two months after a PlayStation Store glitch briefly made the game free. Players who claimed the title during the error in October 2025 have now had their licences revoked, just days before Christmas.

The incident dates back to October 17, when a pricing glitch caused the newly released PS5 version of the game to appear as free on the PlayStation Store. For roughly two hours, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 users were able to claim the full game, which normally sells for around $40, without any subscription or payment required.

How The Glitch Happened

Reports at the time suggested the issue stemmed from an unusual demo to full game upgrade loophole. Players were able to add a delisted PS4 demo version to their account, which then unlocked the complete PS5 release as a free upgrade. Once claimed, the game appeared in user libraries as if it had been legitimately purchased.

Sony moved quickly to shut down the glitch once it was discovered, but the company did not immediately revoke access. As days turned into weeks, many players assumed they had been allowed to keep the game permanently.

Revocation Emails Spark Confusion

That assumption changed on December 23, when affected players began receiving emails from PlayStation Support. The messages thanked users for contacting support and confirmed that a refund request had been processed, despite no request ever being made.

The wording caused confusion and concern across gaming forums, with some players initially believing their accounts had been compromised. A clearer message appeared directly on PS5 consoles, where Sony acknowledged the PS5 version of the game was not intended to be free and confirmed the licence had been removed. Players were advised to purchase the game if they wished to continue playing.

A Two Month Delay Raises Questions

What makes this case unusual is the timing. In similar PlayStation Store errors in the past, licences have typically been revoked within 24 to 48 hours. This time, Sony waited nearly two months before taking action.

That delay gave many players enough time to fully complete the game, which takes around 25 to 30 hours to finish. For those who only planned to sample the experience, the extended window effectively acted as an unofficial free trial.

Sony has not explained why the revocation took so long, nor has it commented publicly on the situation.

Silence On Compensation And Policy

Sony has also remained silent on whether it compensated Daedalic Entertainment or developer Mimimi Productions for the accidental giveaway. With no official statement, players have been left to speculate whether licensing agreements or internal processes contributed to the delayed response.

The lack of transparency has reignited debate around digital ownership, with many questioning how secure their digital libraries really are when games can be removed without warning.

Still Worth Playing At A Discount

Despite the controversy, Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun remains widely regarded as one of the best stealth tactics games of the past decade. Set in feudal Japan, the game blends careful planning with real time strategy, featuring multiple characters, each with unique abilities.

Mimimi Productions has since shut down, meaning a sequel is unlikely, but the original still holds up nearly nine years after launch. At the time of writing, the game is available on the PlayStation Store for as little as $4 during sales, down from its usual $40 price.

Other Free Options Remain

Players looking for genuinely free content on PlayStation without a PlayStation Plus subscription still have options. Titles like AAA Dynamic Scenes offer free experiences, with optional paid add ons for those who want more content.

However, the Shadow Tactics situation serves as a reminder that games claimed through store glitches are never guaranteed to stay.

A Familiar Pattern For PlayStation Users

A similar error reportedly made Shadow of the Tomb Raider free for a short time ahead of Christmas. While licence revocations for that title have not yet been widely reported, past patterns suggest Sony is likely to correct the issue if it has not already.

Like other yearly digital recaps, the Wrap Up generates clean, shareable cards designed for social media, giving players an easy way to show off those long sessions in Death Stranding 2 or their 100 percent completion runs in Clair Obscur.

Sony notes that users who did not consent to Full Data collection on PS5 or Additional Data collection on PS4 during 2025 will not be able to access the Wrap Up. This applies to players across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Australasia, India, and Russia.

Or ramp up your PlayStation gaming with two more options offering up an expansive virtual play buffet.  ‘Extra’ adds a game catalog of downloadable PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 titles.

A ‘Deluxe’ aka ‘Premium’ 12 month subscription includes all the benefits of ‘Essential’ and ‘Extra’, plus a catalog of classic games from older PlayStation consoles (PS1, PS2, PS3, PSP) and game trials. If you live in a region that does not have cloud streaming, ‘Premium’ is listed as ‘Deluxe’.

Epic Mickey has returned, and this time, the stakes are truly, well, epic!

Disney Epic Mickey: Rebrushed, the remake of the beloved classic, developed by Purple Lamp in collaboration with Disney Games and published by THQ Nordic.

Mickey Mouse’s adventure with magic ink has gone awry, and he soon finds himself pulled into the dangerous world of Wasteland, a realm where forgotten Disney characters reside. In Disney Epic Mickey: Rebrushed, players will step into Mickey’s shoes and take control of his magical brush to restore the world around him or use paint and thinner to reshape the environment and uncover hidden secrets.

Disney Epic Mickey: Rebrushed brings the classic 2010 game back and for the first time ever, is available to modern consoles with enhanced visuals and graphics. New gameplay features include dash, ground pound and sprint allowing fans of the original and newcomers alike more ways to navigate Wasteland and combat enemies. Along with the magic paint brush, players can explore the unpredictable world of Wasteland, with levels inspired by classic Disney stories, and meet familiar faces along the way.

Disney Epic Mickey: Rebrushed is now available on Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

Captain Blood, the pirate-themed action game last showcased in 2010, will launch in 2024.

SNEG Ltd, a publishing studio that aims to preserve forgotten titles, reveals today that Captain Blood will be released on Windows PC, Xbox One, Xbox X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch later this year.

Loosely based on the adventure novels written by author Rafael Sabatini, Captain Blood is a pirate-themed action game set in the golden age of piracy during the 17th century, where you step into the boots of the most feared pirate captain to ever sail across the seven seas on his quest for gold and glory.

Undergoing several iterations throughout its development in the 2000s, Captain Blood was last showcased in 2010 before vanishing for years due to publishing disputes. Now, SNEG Ltd. is excited to bring the game back for fans of classic pirate adventure, combining its original glory with modern improvements for today’s gamers and consoles.

You play as Captain Blood, the manliest pirate captain ever to drink grog while romancing maidens across the Spanish main. When the local magistrate’s beautiful buxom daughter is kidnapped, he swallows his pride and hires you and your crew to rescue her.

Expect wild adventures with cannon firing, pistol shooting, swashbuckling sword fights, and plenty of pirate shenanigans. This action-packed hack’n’slash features fierce hand-to-hand combat, hordes of enemies, and a classic fighting system with flashy combos and epic finishers.

The game will launch simultaneously on all platforms later this year.
