The Rolling Stones today announced the release of a brand-new Best Of compilation album, Honk. Featuring the biggest hits and classic cuts from every Rolling Stones studio album from 1971 to 2016’s Blue & Lonesome, Honk is out on 19th of April, 2019.

Released via Polydor on 2xCD, 3xLP vinyl and digital, Honk collects 36 essential Stones’ tracks – including eight Top 10 singles, “Brown Sugar”, “Tumbling Dice”, “Angie”, “It’s Only Rock And Roll (But I Like It)”, “Fool To Cry”, “Miss You”, “Emotional Rescue” and “Start Me Up”. Bringing the band’s story up to date, Honk also contains hit single “Doom & Gloom” – recorded in 2012 – as well as “Just Your Fool”, “Ride ‘Em Down” and “Hate To See You Go” from the band’s 2016’s Grammy Award-winning, No 1 album, Blue & Lonesome.

The bonus disc of the deluxe 3xCD edition includes 10 live tracks recorded at packed-out stadiums around the world during the band’s more recent sold-out tours. These include “Dead Flowers”, with Americana star Brad Paisley, recorded in Philadelphia in June 2013 and “Bitch” with Foo Fighters front man Dave Grohl, both during the 50 And Counting tour as well as an electrifying version of “Wild Horses”, featuring Florence Welch, from the band’s show in London in May 2018 during last year’s leg of the No Filter tour.

A deluxe 4xLP coloured vinyl will also be released as a special fan edition, featuring the 36 studio tracks and the bonus 10 live tracks. This handsome heavyweight vinyl set will come housed in a special slip box.

Two digital editions will also be available: one featuring the Standard (36 track) tracklisting and the second comprising of the Deluxe tracklisting (36 tracks + 10 bonus live tracks).

Honk showcases the band’s remarkable run of hits. Taken from the band’s imperial phase, Honk features “Happy” (Exile On Main Street, 1972), “Doo Doo Doo Doo Doo (Heartbreaker)” (Goat’s Head Soup, 1973) and “Beast Of Burden” (Some Girls, 1978) alongside later singles like “Waiting On A Friend” (Tattoo You, 1981), “Undercover (Of The Night” (Undercover, 1983), “Harlem Shuffle” (Dirty Work, 1986), “Rock And A Hard Place” (Steel Wheels, 1989), “Love Is Strong” (Voodoo Lounge, 1994), “Out Of Control” (Bridges To Babylon, 1997), “Rough Justice” (A Bigger Bang, 2005) and “Just Your Fool” (Blue & Lonesome, 2016).

Honk also highlights classic Stones’ album cuts – “Bitch” (Sticky Fingers, 1971), “Rocks Off” (Exile On Main Street, 1972) “Dancing With Mr. D”, (Goat’s Head Soup, 1973) and “Respectable” (Some Girls, 1978) – as well as stand-alone tracks such as “Don’t Stop” (Forty Licks, 2002) and “One More Shot” (GRRR!).

The 10 live tracks are similarly wide-ranging, drawn from three of the band’s most recent tours, the 50 And Counting Tour, the Zip Code Tour and the No Filter Tour. These tours were powerful reminders of the Stones’ formidable gifts for performance and song-writing, as the band treated audiences to hits and deep cuts drawn from the full span of their illustrious career.

On Honk, “Get Off My Cloud”, “Let’s Spend The Night Together” and “Under My Thumb” (recorded in Cardiff, Manchester and London, respectively, during the 2018 No Filter tour) ably represent the band’s ground-breaking early-mid ‘60s years; while the version of “She’s A Rainbow” from Paris, 2017, provides a relatively rare outing of this classic piece of psychedelic Stones.

The appearance of “Dancing With Mr. D” meanwhile, recorded in Arnheim, 2017, marks the song’s acclaimed return to the band’s set lists for the first time in 44 years.

Bryan Adams announces his brand-new album, Shine A Light out March 1st 2019 on Polydor Records. The album will be available across all physical formats, including vinyl and on all digital platforms.

The album title will be the lead single from the record, which will get its worldwide premiere on BBC Radio 2, January 17th 2019 and will then be available to stream across all streaming platforms.

Co-written with singer / songwriter Ed Sheeran, the lead single is a great pop-rock opener to the new album. Says Adams on the song “I met Ed in Dublin this year at one of his shows and we kept in touch. One day I sent him a chorus I had for a song idea I had called ‘Shine A Light’ and asked him if he was interested in collaborating on it. I got a couple of verses back a few days later, and man you should hear him sing it!”

“I’m thrilled to be releasing this new 12-track studio album, which has a good blend of rock and pop and R&B.The new album will also feature a duet with American popstar Jennifer Lopez on the future classic “That’s How Strong Our Love Is”. “Working with Jennifer was a dream, our voices sound amazing together.” says Adams.

To coincide with the new album release, Bryan Adams will be heading out on a ‘Shine A Light’ World Tour.

This December will see the release of The Rolling Stones – On Air, a collection of rarely heard radio recordings from their formative years. The songs, including eight the band have never recorded or released commercially, were originally broadcast on bygone UK BBC shows such as Saturday Club, Top Gear, Rhythm and Blues and The Joe Loss Pop Show between 1963 and 1965.

Released via Polydor Records (through Universal Music Australia) on CD, double CD deluxe edition, heavy-weight vinyl and special limited-edition coloured vinyl, these flashbacks offer an insight into the band as a vital and constantly surprising live unit. Such was the frequency with which they visited BBC studios in the 60’s, the group constantly set out to offer listeners something different. As well as songs that never appeared on singles or albums, there are seven tracks that were debuted over the airwaves before featuring on albums or EPs.

The group’s take on familiar R&B staples like ‘Roll Over Beethoven’, ‘Memphis, Tennessee’ and ‘Beautiful Delilah’ (all originated by Chuck Berry) illustrate the verve and energy the Stones regularly brought to their live shows. The BBC would urge them to perform their current singles, and while happy to do so they also relished the opportunity to showcase a fuller picture of their prowess as Britain’s foremost blues outfit, packing clubs and ballrooms night after night.

Among the 32 tracks, first heard ringing out of transistor radios over a period of just under two years, is ‘Come On’, the group’s debut single and also the first number laid down for the iconic Saturday Club, hosted by the late, legendary Brian Matthew. ‘Come On’ is released as the first track from the album and is available now on digital and streaming services. Other highlights include the strutting ‘Fannie Mae’ (originally recorded by bluesman Buster Brown in 1959), Tommy Tucker’s ‘Hi Heel Sneakers’, and Bo Diddley’s ‘Cops And Robbers’.

Nestling among the illustrious and well-chosen cover versions, are raw and vibrant renditions of Stones Jagger/Richards originals, such as ‘(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction’, ‘The Last Time’ and ‘The Spider And The Fly’ in a form closer to the thrilling immediacy of the band’s live shows than on vinyl. These recordings bring the listener as near as possible to the excitement of the era without actually being there in person.

If last year’s collection of new recordings of past masters Blue & Lonesome presented the Stones returning to their roots after more than 50 years, On Air is the perfect “sister” compendium, a lovingly curated and restored treasure trove that puts the listener front and centre in the eye of the original storm.

To help recapture the spirit of the songs when they were first performed, the tapes have gone through a process called “audio source separation”, which involved de-mixing the transcripts and allowing engineers at Abbey Road access to the original instrumentation and voices within each track, so that they could be rebuilt, rebalanced and remixed to achieve a fuller, more substantial sound.

The end result is the Stones at their most passionate and intense, transporting listeners back to the band’s lean and hungry years when their standing as household names was already assured, and global domination was just 12 bars away.

The variety of radio shows from which the material is compiled is testament to the special relationship the Stones had with the BBC from the very beginning of their recording career. The music speaks for itself, but On Air also serves as an important historical artefact, and an essential of the group’s impressively evergreen canon.

The Rolling Stones – On Air offer a unique insight into the formative days of The Rolling Stones a few years before ‘The Greatest Rock ‘n’ Roll Band in the World’ became a reality this was a band playing the music they loved so much – Blues, R&B, Soul and even the odd country song. Performing these songs night after night in clubs and dancehalls meant they are all honed to perfection and performed with the genuine love and affection that The Stones have for their musical heritage.
