At Mobile World Congress 2022, OPPO announced two breakthroughs in high-speed flash charging: 150W SUPERVOOC with Battery Health Engine (BHE) and 240W SUPERVOOC flash charge technology.

OPPO has integrated its self-developed BHE within the ultra-fast 150W SUPERVOOC flash charge, allowing the battery to maintain 80% of its original capacity after as many as 1,600 charge cycles, double the current industry standard, thus providing extremely fast charging in addition to the battery’s health protection.

240W SUPERVOOC flash charge technology marks the latest technological breakthrough in the mobile phone industry. Charging a 4,500mAh battery from 1% to 100% in about 9 minutes, 240W SUPERVOOC kicks off a new era of safe and efficient flash charging.

Evolving from the leading 125W SUPERVOOC flash charge technology, 150W SUPERVOOC flash charge with BHE uses direct charging technology with two charge pumps which can support up to 20V/7.5A charging.

In addition, the adapter for 150W SUPERVOOC with BHE leverages gallium nitride (GaN) to reduce the size of the adapter to nearly the same size as the previous generation 65W SUPERVOOC adapter, measuring 58 x 57 x 30mm, and weighing around 172g.

To improve all-round charging experience, 150W SUPERVOOC flash charge features the Battery Health Engine, which is powered by OPPO’s customized battery management chip and includes two key technologies: Smart Battery Health Algorithm and Battery Healing Technology. Together, they improve battery health, safety, and performance by optimizing the hardware and software.

Smart Battery Health Algorithm can track real-time electric potential across the negative electrodes inside the battery. It dynamically adjusts the charging currency within a reasonable range, effectively minimizing the occurrence of dead lithium while maintaining the maximum charging current. This helps ensure prolonged battery lifespan and faster charging speeds.

Battery Healing Technology optimizes battery life from the inner system of the battery. By improving the electrolyte formula, the electrodes are continuously repaired during the battery’s charge and discharge cycles, forming a more stable and durable solid electrolyte interface (SEI) that always stays in a perfect state in real-time. This helps in reducing the wear and tear of the positive and negative electrodes of the battery, therefore, enhancing battery performance and extending battery lifespan.

BHE will be integrated into most mid-to-high-end OPPO and OnePlus phones in the future, bringing safety, efficiency, and durability to more users. 150W SUPERVOOC flash charge with BHE will debut on a OnePlus smartphone in the second quarter of this year.

Due to the growing demand for high efficiency charging solutions in the era of 5G intelligent connectivity, OPPO has further pushed the limits of high-power flash charge and launched 240W SUPERVOOC. This new technology can charge a 4500mAh battery to 100% in about 9 minutes.

240W SUPERVOOC is designed with 24V/10A technology on the Type-C interface. It boasts three charge pumps and the power supplied to the handsets can be converted to 10V/24A. It conforms to the existing device specifications and has been tested in terms of heat dissipation, guaranteeing optimal efficiency and enhanced safety. Furthermore, the battery’s leading discharge rating allows the hardware to support a maximum of 240W.

240W SUPERVOOC delivers a safe and seamless charging experience while also pushing the boundaries of charging speed. By taking a holistic approach to the safety of the adapter, charging cable and the handset, OPPO minimizes potential safety hazards and risks, providing an efficient and secure charging solution:

• 240W SUPERVOOC adopts five safety protection measures as well as a specially customized intelligent control chip that controls the voltage, current, and temperature to deliver a safe charging solution.
• A customized battery safety monitoring chip monitors whether the battery of the mobile phone is damaged by external forces when in use.
• Temperature protection has been enhanced via 13 temperature sensors installed in the phone, reducing the chance of overheating and avoiding abnormalities.

Last week, OPPO announced their new flagship Find X5 series will be available for order in New Zealand later in March 2022.

With the support of enhanced 80W SUPERVOOC flash-charging technology, the OPPO Find X5 Pro can be charged from close to empty to 50 per cent in just 12 minutes, and with 50W AIRVOOC, it powers up to 100 per cent wirelessly in just 47 minutes.

In comparison, the Find X3 Pro supported 65W SUPERVOOC and 30W AIRVOOC flash-charging technology. OPPO now continues to expand its high-powered flash charging technology, setting new records for mobile phone charging.

Today OPPO hosted a flash charging partner conference at Mobile World Congress, Shanghai (MWCS).

The event took place on the OPPO stand alongside a host of innovations in device charging, 5G connectivity and smart technology.

Leading partners from sectors including consumer electronics and chip manufacturing, as well as experts in charging technology from CCTL (China Telecommunication Technology Labs), came together to discuss the future of flash charge technology.

Meanwhile, numerous examples of cutting-edge charging products feature on OPPO’s stand, including the 125W flash charger, which can charge a 4,000mAh phone battery to 100% in just 20 minutes. This is joined by 65W AirVOOC wireless flash charge products – which charges the same battery in as little as 30 minutes – and products from several partners who have licensed OPPO’s proprietary technologies.

Elsewhere at MWC Shanghai, Henry Tang, Vice President of OPPO Research Institute, was invited to speak about 5G innovation at the 5G Innovation and Investment Summit: “At OPPO, we firmly believe that 5G will change how we all live. As coverage and capacity expand, we’ll see new applications flourishing in numerous areas, bringing unexpected experiences to consumers. We’re already involved in the development of a global 5G standard, and will continue to explore new 5G devices and deployments, from TV to CPE to AR.”

OPPO’s MWCS stand features an array of innovative technologies including the flash charge area.

The Smart Home of the Future shows how OPPO’s IoT products can make our homes smarter and more connected than ever before. The unique 5G CPE, Omni, powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon X55 5G Modem-RF System sits at the heart of this area, capable of turning 5G signals into stable, high speed Wi-Fi connections through two proprietary antenna systems.

The O-Reserve 5G antenna system uses the Sub-6GHz 5G spectrum, automatically choosing four of its eight antennae at a time to get the best possible signal.

At the same time, the O-Motion 360° technology can fully rotate its antennae, automatically ensuring the CPE is positioned for optimum 5G millimeter wave signal reception. OPPO, Qualcomm Technologies, Inc., and Ericsson recently completed successful tests of 5G millimeter wave technology with the Omni, achieving downlink speeds of 4.06Gbps.

Visitors to the OPPO booth can learn more about Omni’s antenna systems and other 5G technologies. They can also experience Augmented Reality (AR) shopping and gaming in this area.

OPPO X 2021

The Futuristic Technologies area lets MWCS guests get up close to the OPPO X 2021 concept phone, which features a screen that unrolls from 6.7 to 7.4 inches.

Here they can also see how fast and easy charging is with OPPO’s new Wireless Air Charging technology, which can deliver up to 7.5W of charging power.

This latest innovation uses magnetic resonance to remove some of the inconvenience of other wireless charging technologies, working as soon as devices are within 10cm of the charging mat.

The GSMA today reported that more than 107,000 visitors from 205 countries and territories attended the 2018 Mobile World Congress, the mobile industry’s premier event.

Over 55 per cent of this year’s Mobile World Congress attendees held senior-level positions, including more than 7,700 CEOs, up from more than 6,100 CEOs in 2017. Approximately 24 per cent of attendees were female, an increase from 23 per cent at Mobile World Congress 2017; additionally, 28 per cent of speakers in the conference programme were female, compared with 21 per cent in 2017.
