A brand-new resort hotel is opening on the pier, managed by Kapp’n’s family. You’ll help design and decorate guest rooms, stock a souvenir shop, and create dream vacation experiences for visitors. Think of it as a spiritual follow-up to Happy Home Paradise, but right on your own island.

Resetti Returns

The beloved mole Resetti is back with a twist. This time, he’s offering a Reset Service to help tidy up your island or even give it a soft reboot if you’re craving a fresh start. You’ll also be able to expand your home storage to 9,000 items, including the ability to store trees, shrubs, and flowers.

Slumber Island

Nintendo Switch Online members can visit Slumber Island, where you can design and save up to three islands, collaborate online with friends, and build together in real time. Players can also invite residents from their main island and manage their full inventory while editing their dream getaway.

Collaborations and Collectibles

As part of the update, Animal Crossing: New Horizons will feature an array of special collaborations and nostalgic throwbacks.

Players can collect Nintendo-themed items like the Ultra Hand, classic Nintendo consoles, and even play select classic games in-game when interacting with certain console furniture.

There’s also a LEGO crossover, bringing brick-built items and decor to your island for the first time. Fans of The Legend of Zelda and Splatoon can also use compatible amiibo to invite themed characters and unlock exclusive furniture and outfits inspired by those beloved series.

Why Fans Are Excited

For many, this update marks the biggest revival since 2021’s Happy Home Paradise expansion. The return of iconic characters, improved multiplayer, and the flexibility to design entire resort spaces make this feel like the New Horizons 2.0 fans had always hoped for.

Is there a more iconic brand than LEGO?

I doubt it, and as an adult they are still so much fun to play with. One of the issues is the branded Lego is usually really pricey, even if they look so cool. F1 fans are very lucky with the more reasonably priced LEGO Speed Champions: Formula 1 range.

How do they look?

The cheaper smaller kits always make me nervous as the blockiness can distort the image too much.  Well not the case here! These cars may be small, but they are impressively detailed. This is thanks to them consisting of over 250 smaller LEGO pieces. This means they keep their iconic LEGO look, while being impressively detailed.

Each of them also come with a LEGO character in the full driver outfit of the relevant brand, which just adds the touch of awesome to them when they sit on your shelf. Whether they are in the cockpit or standing by the car looking cool, it looks awesome.

What are they like to build?

I played with the BWT Alpine F1 Team A524, the Aston Martin Aramco F1 AMR24, and the KICK Sauber F1 Team C44 play sets. Well, my son and I played with them. The BWT is 258 pieces, the Aston Martin is 269 pieces, and the Sauber is 259 pieces. That’s a lot of pieces in a small car. Despite that, putting them together is fun as ever thanks to the really well designed booklets that come with them.

My 11 year old and I got them built reasonably easily. He only just beat me when we had a little race, but don’t tell him I said that. Like most LEGO sets, it’s really relaxing and cathartic just following the instructions and making them.

The hardest part, as always, is the stickers. God I wish LEGO would just print it on the pieces because I can not get the things straight to save my life. But that’s very much a me issue. If you are a normal human, I’m sure it is piece of cake to build.

One really amazing little detail is the front of the book has a fun fact about the actual car, and they vary from car to car. The Alpine compared the number of parts in the actual car to the models parts.  The Sauber mentions the time to build from the car to the model. The Aramco mentions the length of the actual car to the length of the model in studs. It’s just a fun little detail that my son was always super excited to share with me.

Should you pick them up?

Do you like F1? Well, these are super cool collectables to put together.

Are you a LEGO fan? If yes, these are a lot of fun to put together, and look dope as hell.

Or are you just wanting something to get a teenager for a present? With F1’s massive explosion in popularity you really can’t go wrong here.  Best of all the kit sets are surprisingly reasonable for a fully licensed property.

Disney+ has just released the teaser trailer for theor four-piece animated special LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy.

The animated special showcases the longtime team-up of Lucasfilm and Danish toy manufacturing company, The LEGO Group.  “It’s hard to believe that it’s been twenty-five years since the ground-breaking collaboration between Lucasfilm and The LEGO Group began,” says executive producer James Waugh. “In that time, LEGO Star Wars has given our fans the unique power to unlock their imaginations and play with the galaxy’s elements in any way they can conceive… and build. It’s with that playful spirit in mind that we set out to ‘Rebuild the Galaxy’ like never before. In LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy, the entire Star Wars Galaxy gets completely mixed up when an ordinary nerf-herder, Sig Greebling (Gaten Matarazzo), unearths a powerful artifact from a hidden Jedi temple. He finds himself thrust into adventure in a new, wondrously wild and twisted version of the galaxy where good guys are bad, bad guys are good, and the fate of all depends on Sig becoming the hero who can put all the pieces back together.

The talented voice cast features Gaten Matarazzo (Sig Greebling), Tony Revolori (Dev Greebling), Bobby Moynihan (Jedi Bob), Marsai Martin (Yesi Scala), Michael Cusack (Servo), Ahmed Best (Darth Jar Jar), and Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker). As celebrations for the LEGO Star Wars 25th anniversary continue throughout the year, fans should hold on tight to their TIE Interceptors as a lot of exciting things are happening. May the 4th be with you!

New 25th anniversary products are coming for May the 4th including the TIE Interceptor building set that was part of the first launch of the Ultimate Collector Series in 2000 is back in a new and redesigned version. Admirers of Star Wars: Return of the Jedi can relive the action of the movie, as they recreate the distinctive wings, detailed cockpit, and laser cannons of the magnificent LEGO Star Wars TIE Interceptor building set.

The 1,931-piece set is an impressive 40 centimetres/16 inches long and comes complete with an exclusive TIE Pilot minifigure and Mouse Droid figure, currently limited to this set. The model is mounted on a stand with a printed plaque and includes a printed brick (3.2 centimetres / 1.3 inches wide, 0.8 centimetres / 0.3 inches long and 3.2 centimetres / 1.3 inches high) with the LEGO Star Wars anniversary logo.

Fans of Star Wars: The Phantom Menace can dive into building a dynamic snapshot of Tatooine with the Mos Espa Podrace Diorama building set. The 718-piece display set includes Anakin Skywalker, the Arch Canyon and a plaque with Qui-Gon Jinn’s advice: “Remember. Concentrate on the moment. Feel. Don’t think. Use your instincts.”

For those who have already ventured to the dark side, the 640-piece Darth Maul’s Sith Infiltrator building set could be ideal. Fans can fold out the wings and retract the landing gear for flight, fire the 2 spring-loaded shooters and press the trigger to drop 3 DRK-1 probe droids from the front compartment. Alternatively, fans can check out the brick-built destroyer droid, Droideka set with 583 pieces. Those who prefer brick-built display characters are also in for a treat with the set of six collectible LEGO BrickHeadz figures featuring the characters of Jar Jar Binks, Anakin Skywalker, Queen Amidala, Captain Panaka, Qui-Gon Jinn and Darth Maul.

For Star Wars: Revenge of the SithTM fans, there is also a BrickHeadz Clone Commander Cody set. Anyone who is team Grogu will be happy that they can now immerse themselves into the building experience of the 221-piece BARC Speeder Escape alongside Kelleran Beq.

And the May the 4th celebrations continue in LEGO Fortnite, with exciting new LEGO Star Wars content to discover in the survival crafting game beginning May 3rd, 2024.

Fans should keep their sights to the stars in LEGO Fortnite later in the month.

The film festival is inviting fans to submit their own 25-second clip that recreates their favourite Star Wars moments or forges a new one with LEGO Star Wars building sets and minifigures they treasure.

The new LEGO Star Wars products will be available from 1st May 2024.

The LEGO Group has just announced details on their brand-new LEGO Animal Crossing sets, inspired by the video game series from Nintendo.

Millions of people have found their happy place while playing Animal Crossing. Now for the first time, that world is coming to LEGO brick form.

The five new play experiences, created in partnership with Nintendo, allow LEGO builders to explore the world and characters from the video games, and play out different stories in the brick-built landscape. The sets have been developed to fit together easily and offer a high level of customisation, for instance it’s possible to switch elements between buildings – including the window frames – with one simple click.

All sets can be adapted, mixed, and changed, enabling builders to create their own worlds and make the settings unique to them. Builders aged 6+ can get creative and imaginative by bringing their favourite scenes and characters to life in the physical world with LEGO Animal Crossing.

The new range will include build experiences such as Julian’s Birthday Party, where builders can celebrate with Julian, share cupcakes, and open presents. Bunnie’s Outdoor Activities allows enthusiasts of the great outdoors to roleplay, setting up a tent, roasting marshmallows or using the vaulting pole to jump across the water, and grab the shovel or other recognizable tools from the video game series. Kapp’n’s Island Boat Tour gives fans the opportunity to board the boat and explore another island with Kapp’n and Marshal, go on an adventure to search for coconuts and bamboo, discover wildlife, hermit crabs, and fish or simply hang out and enjoy the fire.

Isabelle’s House Visit allows builders to get creative and help Isabelle and Fauna customise Fauna’s house and enjoy activities like opening the balloon present, crafting tools, or picking fruits and flowers. And Nook’s Cranny. & Rosie’s House gives builders two locations where they can roleplay stocking up Nook’s Cranny shop or go to Rosie’s house for freshly baked cookies.

“To us, Animal Crossing is all about creativity and roleplay, so bringing that to life in physical form using LEGO bricks and creating new minifigures has been fun for the team” said Simon Kent, Creative Lead, Design Director at the LEGO Group. One of the challenges was to make sure that customisation of the sets was simple so builders could experience the freedom they have in the game. Build it, race it, smash everything.

LEGO 2K Drive from 2K Games places you, new racer, in to the plastic brick seat of many racing circuits and competitions in a huge catalogue of rides where you aim to win.

To start out with you’ll need to select your character then go through the tutorial with the legendary Clutch Racington.

This gets you familiar with playing the game, working out menu options and customising your rides at Monkey’s Garage.

The tutorial is embedded in to the actual gameplay, and here it feels that the tutorial drags on, but as you’re actually playing through and progressing it’s not so much of a daunting introduction.

While you never leave the vehicle that you’re in, LEGO 2K Drive feels a little bit like am adventure game.

If you’re not within a race you can drive around the huge map and explore. Thankfully the developers; Visual Concepts enabled the waypoint set function within the map,

There are not only hidden goodies to discover, also side gigs that can net you bonus rewards.

Almost everything in the environment is destructible. It’s so satisfying to drive through obstacles and see them crumble in to their individual LEGO parts.

Your vehicle can go across multi-terrains.

If you’re in a hotted up race car and go off road your vehicle will automatically change to a buggy. Take a dip, no worries, you’ll instantly be transformed in to a boat.

Racing also takes place over these said differing terrains as well and there’s pick ups items on the tracks in every race.

Customisation will see you donning new parts, a paint job and more to your vehicles as you progress through the game’s objectives and build up a collection of vehicles.

LEGO 2K Drive while slated for the younger gamers is super fun and a title where to maximise that competitive feel you can take on other racers in multiplayer.

All of your progress is followed and broadcasted in-game via the ‘Awesome News Network’ (ANN) and for us older gamers a few, more adult orientated  jokes are thrown in there.

LEGO 2K Drive is a massively huge game that has an endless replayable factor. a racing game literally for everyone.

Anakin, Luke, Han, Chewie and more are back with their light sabers to bring down the Empire, brick by brick.

From Lucasfilm Games and Warner Bros. comes a selection of nine games rolled in to one in LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga.

You start off with The Force Awakens or A New Hope which needs to be played through to unlock the next chapter within the timeline until eventually all games are available for selection.

There are The Last Jedi, The Rise of Skywalker, The Phantom Menace, Attack of the Clones, Revenge of the Sith and The Empire Strikes Back all to be unlocked.

So, yep as the games’ namesake, all of the ‘Skywalker’ films.

Gameplay is of course based on the particular film of the Saga you’ve chosen, accurately recreated in LEGO style with some humored creativity thrown in.

Depending on which Saga you’re playing through will also depend on your gameplay.

From shootouts to melee through to some fierce light sabre clashes and of course Jedi powers, all the while saving or assisting other NPCs and collecting LEGO loot. And there’s a lot of LEGO loot to be had. Before you know it you’ll be a LEGO stubb kazillionaire.

These are spendable on goodies within the game.

You’ll cover off every planet as it is in the films, finding structures ready to be built (or dismantled) and if the going gets a little too tough friends can drop in to play to help you out in multiplayer.

As with prior LEGO franchise games you can play your way.

The main story will have you on a set path, however exploration in each open environment is recommended. Pretty much nearly everything is destructible and will net you riches.

Speaking with select NPCs will gain you side objectives or info. However some NPCs will require you come back in Freeplay with a differing character to be able to translate what they need.

Characters unlock as you progress through the entire game. There’s almost 400 playable characters to be had.

While environments tend to vary, for the most part they are massive, beyond what the eye can see and you can find yourself spending hours upon hours simply exploring.

There’s vehicles too ready to take for a spin.

LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga is one giant sized game overall with not hours but days of play.

Replayability is huge. Play through the main narrative, then once done with that Chapter, go back, find and collect all of the goodness within, complete objectives that required a different character.

Disney+ has just debuted key art and announced the cast for “LEGO Star Wars Terrifying Tales,” which premieres October 1, 2021 as a part of Disney+’s Hallowstream celebration.

The all-new animated special from Lucasfilm and the LEGO Group continues the rich legacy of collaboration between Lucasfilm and the LEGO brand and is a seasonal celebration of the villainous dark side of the Star Wars galaxy, just in time for Halloween.

“LEGO Star Wars Terrifying Tales” features a talented voice cast that includes Jake Green as Poe Dameron; Raphael Alejandro as Dean; Dana Snyder as Graballa the Hutt; Tony Hale as Vaneé; Christian Slater as Ren; Trevor Devall as Emperor Palpatine; Mary Elizabeth McGlynn as NI-L8; and Matt Sloan as Darth Vader. David Shayne is writer and executive producer, and the director is Ken Cunningham.

James Waugh, Josh Rimes, Jacqui Lopez, Jill Wilfert, Keith Malone and Jason Cosler are executive producers. “LEGO Star Wars Terrifying Tales” is produced in collaboration with Atomic Cartoons.

After the events of “The Rise of Skywalker,” Poe and BB-8 must make an emergency landing on the volcanic planet Mustafar where they meet the greedy and conniving Graballa the Hutt who has purchased Darth Vader’s castle and is renovating it into the galaxy’s first all-inclusive Sith-inspired luxury hotel.

While waiting for his X-Wing to be repaired, Poe, BB-8, Graballa, and Dean (a plucky and courageous young boy who works as Graballa’s mechanic) venture deep into the mysterious castle with Vader’s loyal servant, Vaneé.

Along the way, Vaneé shares three creepy stories linked to ancient artefacts and iconic villains from across all eras of Star Wars. As Vaneé spins his tales and lures our heroes deeper into the shadowy underbelly of the castle, a sinister plan emerges.

With the help of Dean, Poe and BB-8 will have to face their fears, stop an ancient evil from rising, and escape to make it back to their friends.

More than 2.5 million bricks are making their way to Aotearoa for LEGO MASTERS NZ, the international television sensation.

Applications for the programme are now open, as we search for the country’s most innovative LEGO builders for this one-of-a-kind competition.

Colourful and playful, the LEGO MASTERS format has been a hit all around the globe. Teams of two will be put through their paces in a series of challenges designed to put their LEGO building skills and imaginations to the test. With design, creativity, construction techniques, as well as storytelling prowess all under the watchful eye of Brickmaster and series’ judge, Robin Sather.

Canadian born Robin Sather was the first ever LEGO Certified Professional (LCP) – a program he helped create, of which there are only 21 professionals in the world. Robin’s passion for the LEGO brick started when he was a young boy, and it’s never stopped having built incredible designs such as an Egyptian sphinx, a giant globe, and detailed castles during his career.

Sather will be on-hand to watch over the teams as they complete their builds each week, as he hopes to find New Zealand’s best brick builders: “I know that there are a lot of amazing LEGO fans in New Zealand, so I’m excited to have the opportunity to showcase your amazing Kiwi LEGO builders! We’re going have a lot of fun together!”

The series will deliver entertainment, humour, and some drama, with the contestants showcasing their passion for building. TVNZ’s Director of Content, Cate Slater said: “The LEGO MASTERS franchise has been incredibly popular globally and we’re thrilled to bring audiences our very own local version, with Brickmaster, Robin, at the helm as judge.

“LEGO has been an integral part of Kiwis’ homes for generations, inspiring creativity and family fun. That ethos fits perfectly with TVNZ 2 and we’re looking forward to seeing the amazing talent and LEGO creations to be built brick-by-brick here in Aotearoa in 2022.”

Screentime New Zealand, producers of Eat Well for Less NZ and Popstars, will be partnering with TVNZ to create this new series. Universal Music Group’s Astralwerks label and the LEGO Group teamed up to introduce L.L.A.M.A to the world.

He makes his debut with the infectious single “Shake,” which features three-time GRAMMY winner NE-YO and newcomer Carmen DeLeon, who recently released the hit single “Juegas.”

LEGO Group recently teased the single, as news broke of  L.L.A.M.A’s historic signing to Astralwerks. The DJ / producer is the first LEGO minifigure to sign a deal with a record label.

The official video for “Shake,” which premiered today, features L.L.A.M.A, NE-YO and Carmen DeLeon. Will Kindrick (Ice Cube, Brian Wilson, She & Him) directed the clip, which can be seen above.

L.L.A.M.A is the first artist to release a song via VIDIYO, which is a playful and innovative music video maker experience designed for children, aimed at celebrating and expanding their creativity and shared passion for music.

VIDIYO is a brand-new way to play that helps children dream big by directing, producing, starring in, and safely sharing their own music videos, using tracks from across the globe, led by chart hits from Universal Music Group’s unrivalled artists.

“I met Ryan at a party. He was the only one who could keep up with me on the dance floor,” recalls L.L.A.M.A “A few days later, he turned up at my place and we just clicked. By sunset, ‘Shake’ was born, and it was beautiful. It’s fun. It’s energetic. It makes you want to move.”

NE-YO says, “L.L.A.M.A is an artist we need right now. Bringing some uplifting, positive music to people during what has been a hard year for so many is something I am happy to be a part of.”

Carmen DeLeon added, “I was so excited when I was asked to be part of ‘Shake’ alongside NE-YO and L.L.A.M.A. My life revolves around creativity and dreaming big and this collaboration with the LEGO Group is a fulfillment of that. I hope this song and the fun music video that we shot inspires kids to always follow their dreams and think outside of the box.”

L.L.A.M.A, whose name is an acronym for Love, Laughter And Music Always, is a global citizen.

Originally from the Andean region of South America, he moved to Los Angeles to pursue his dream of making music that makes people happy.

On signing with Astralwerks L.L.A.M.A says, “It feels incredible to be on such a legendary label. I’m constantly inspired by all of the artists on its roster. If I can make at least one person happy then my mission here is complete.

The world needs a lift, and I’m up for being a part of that.”
