In New Zealand, we have a term for your companions with whom you share your lockdown – they are your “bubble”.

JaffaJam believes games have the potential to make the world a slightly better place and support people at a time when they really need help. That’s why we’re asking you to #JoinOurBubble, a non-profit initiative to offer free games at a time they need them the most.

This is a good time to be playing games – for relaxation and maybe even to learn a few things on the way. That’s why we at JaffaJam have decided to shift our focus to making games that alleviate stress and anxiety or help educate and inform.

Good news – at JaffaJam we have also made our last four games completely free and you can find out how to access them at our Official site, along with a bunch of other games from like-minded game developers. And keep an eye open for more games coming to #JoinOurBubble as more teams get on board.

For developers

There are three main ways to get involved:

• Offer some free games for a period of time: JaffaJam have removed all forms of monetisation from our last four games which are all pretty chilled and friendly for all ages. We know how generous many of have been in the last few weeks and they applaud any team that has been able to give away or de-monetise any titles to help the billion plus people around the world currently in lockdown. JaffaJam also appreciate this is not the time to threaten revenues – the last thing anyone needs is a company risking jobs – but if there are older titles or games that can be de-monetised simply and without damaging your team, then let them know – they will add them to the list at joinourbubble.org and can switch them out when the free period is over.
• Make new games that help: They’ve switched over our resources for the time being to make games that either help relieve stress or anxiety, or assist home teaching for kids whose education has been disrupted massively overnight. If you can, please join. If you can spare the time to prototype or develop a game that fits these two purposes, JaffaJam want to help and will promote them via joinourbubble.org.
• Use our technology – if that helps you: At JaffaJam, we developed a Unity framework called “BubbleGum” (funnily enough it was called that long before the idea of lockdown “bubbles”) to help prototype rapidly and produce highly polished games in a short time. BubbleGum is a flexible modular system for integrating common and complex functionality for in-game systems such as procedural-generation, music mixers, localization, character selection, and achievements. If this would help you make games that either help relieve stress or anxiety, or assist home teaching for kids, then JaffaJam will share these tools for free and offer support in their use. You can also use our Cloud Services platform to help game management, inventory, leaderboards, achievements and so on.

Destiny 2 has attracted legions of dedicated fans and has been enjoyed by millions of gamers around the world since launching in 2017. Now, that fanbase is set to grow as new Guardians will be able to enter the world of Destiny 2 for free in November. To celebrate an entire year on PC, Bungie and Activision, in collaboration with Blizzard Entertainment, announce that from now until November 19th, 2018 in Australia and New Zealand everyone on Blizzard’s Battle.net gaming platform who has not already purchased Destiny 2, or any new members joining Battle.net will have the opportunity to claim the game as a free gift.

Destiny 2 will be available on the Battle.net app to claim for free for a little more than two weeks in November, and players will have the opportunity to download the game once they’ve claimed it.  New Battle.net accounts created after 5:00 a.m. AEDT on November 3, 2018, will be required to enable Blizzard SMS Protect before claiming their game license.  Destiny 2 is redeemable from HERE.

Existing players of Destiny 2 PC will receive an exclusive emblem not available anywhere else, which becomes available in December 2018, to commemorate the first anniversary of being on Battle.net.  Additionally, new Guardians will have the opportunity to try out Destiny 2: Forsaken’s new mode “Gambit,” from November the 10th through to the 12th, 2018 in Australia and New Zealand, during the Gambit Free Weekend. Gambit is a 4v4 hybrid activity included with Destiny 2: Forsaken.

“We know Destiny players that want to play on PC expect an amazing experience, whether it’s on their own or with their friends, so, our paramount concern was to keep the discerning requirements of the PC community in mind, and welcoming the Battle.net and Bungie PC communities together,” said Steve Cotton, game director for Destiny 2: Forsaken at Bungie.  He added, “With this gift we look forward to seeing new Guardians in our universe.”

The genre-defining Destiny franchise has received global acclaim since its release in 2014, followed by a record-breaking Destiny 2’s PC launch in 2017, the largest PC launch in Activision Publishing history based on units. Developed by Bungie, and brought to PC in partnership with Vicarious Visions, Destiny 2 delivers a native PC experience with PC-specific features such as: 4K resolution support, uncapped frame rate, full mouse and keyboard support with custom key mapping, text chat, adjustable field of view, a detailed PC settings screen, 21:9 and triple monitor support, and HDR. In the story of Destiny 2, the last city on Earth has fallen and lies in ruins. Players must master new abilities and weapons to reunite the city’s forces, stand together and fight back to reclaim their home.

Destiny 2 PC is playable on Windows 7, Windows 8, and Windows 10.  Minimum system requirements for the PC game are an Intel Core i3-3250, Intel Pentium G4560, or an AMD FX-4350, along with a GeForce GTX 660 2GB, GTX 1050 2GB, or Radeon HD 7850. Additionally, 6GB of RAM, and 104GB of HDD space and internet connection are required.
