One of the most important new voices in Australian music, Miiesha has today been nominated in five categories at the 2020 ARIA Award nominations event.

The breakout artist takes home nominations for Best Female, Breakthrough Artist, Best Soul/R&B, Engineer of The Year and Producer of The Year – a true testament to the power of her storytelling, the gravity of her voice and the impact she has made as an artist since the release of her striking debut collection Nyaaringu.

Miiesha hails from the small Aboriginal community of Woorabinda in Central Queensland. Since making her debut in mid-2019, Miiesha has released a string of mesmerising singles – ‘Black Privilege’, ‘Drowning’, ‘Twisting Words’ and ‘Hold Strong’. These songs later came together as part of her fearless debut album Nyaaringu, which was one of 2020’s most affecting and critically lauded albums.

In a short space of time, she’s made an indelible impression – recently, she has picked up the 2020 NIMA (National Indigenous Music Awards) for Best New Talent, the Levi’s Music Prize, a triple j Feature Album slot, and the Queensland Music Awards awarded her the Remote Region Prize for her single “Drowning”.  In August, Miiesha released her first ever remix collaborations – ‘Blood Cells’ featuring Briggs and ‘Hold Strong’ featuring Hoodzy, Jess B & Jesswar – listen to the remixes here.

Her critically acclaimed and widely praised debut collection Nyaaringu, will be available for the first time on vinyl on October 30th, 2020.

Today, Katy Perry unveiled Smile, the title track of her new album, which will be released by EMI Recorded Music Australia on August 14. The infectious, life-affirming new single is brimming with gratitude and suggests that setbacks often turn out to be blessings in disguise.

“I wrote this song when I was coming through one of the darkest periods of my life,” says Katy. “When I listen to it now, it’s a great reminder that I made it through. It’s three minutes of energising hopefulness.”

Earlier today, Katy revealed the album cover along with exclusive Smile-themed merchandise bundles, available now to order. Fans who pre-order the album will instantly receive Smile plus Daisies,  Never Really Over and Harleys In Hawaii.

Since its release in May, Daisies has amassed more than 125 million combined global streams. Last week, Katy shared an acoustic version of the song.

While in quarantine, she’s won acclaim for the wide variety of performances she has given of Daisies – including the “American Idol” season finale, the launch of the 2020 “Good Morning America” Concert Series and the “Can’t Cancel Pride: Helping LGBTQ+ People in Need” livestream. Katy also co-headlined the recent Democracy Summer 2020 livestream.

The event kicked off a campaign to register 200,000 new voters this summer, led by a coalition that includes Rock the Vote, Voto Latino Foundation, When We All Vote, March For Our Lives and others.

Hot Chip will release their electrifying seventh album, A Bath Full of Ecstasy, on June 21st, 2019.

Their third album for Domino, A Bath Full of Ecstasy is the group’s definitive release, crystallising the sound they’ve become celebrated for – bridging euphoria and melancholy with colourful melodies, idiosyncratic vocalisations and pounding electronic pop rhythms.

Recorded in Paris and London, the album sees the group (Owen Clarke, Al Doyle Joe Goddard, Felix Martin and Alexis Taylor) open up to a more adventurous and collaborative song-writing process, choosing to work with outside producers for the first time: Philippe Zdar, the French maestro who’s shaped the magic of Cassius and Phoenix, and Rodaidh McDonald, the Scot who’s collaborated with The XX, David Byrne and Sampha, among others.

Today, the band share the first song from the record, ‘Hungry Child’; for 6 glorious minutes, Hot Chip fuse the uplifting soft pads and melodic keys of classic soulful house and the percussive swing of UK garage, full of sweet vocalisations and rhythmic snaps, to make an instant, club-ready hit. The video for ‘Hungry Child’ is directed by Saman Kesh and features Martin Starr and Milana Vayntrub.

Having headlined BBC’s 6Music Festival last weekend, Hot Chip have been debuting new songs at intimate shows in the UK this week; their dates continue in Europe and North America later this month before the quintet reassert themselves as the ultimate festival band this summer, taking in Glastonbury, All Points East, NOS Alive, Pukkelpop and many more. Additionally, in autumn, Hot Chip will embark on their biggest ever headline tours in the UK, Europe and North America.

A Bath Full of Ecstasy is a fresh, invigorating and essential new chapter in the band’s career. Alongside the external producers, the album also finds Taylor stepping out of his comfort zone with his lyricism; though rooted in first person, here his storytelling becomes more bodily, and more open to new ideas. The record is a celebration of joy but recognises the struggle it can take to get to that point of happiness. You can hear the pleasure Hot Chip had in creating this album and they want to pass on that feeling to the listener.

Middle Kids are thrilled to announce headline shows across Australia, and their very first headline shows in New Zealand, on their ‘Real Thing’ tour.

The news comes straight off the back of Laneway Festival, where Middle Kids performed one of the most talked about sets of the event.

To say Middle Kids had a big 2018 would be an understatement.

With the release of their debut album ‘Lost Friends’ (EMI Music) in May 2019, Middle Kids went on to play to full houses across the globe with close to 100 international and local live shows, including a sold out headline show at the Sydney Opera House.  They performed on The Late Late Show with James Corden, played triple j’s One Night Stand, landed at #64 on triple j’s Hottest 100 with ‘Mistake’, and the success of ‘Lost Friends’ saw the band pick up the triple j J Award for Album Of The Year and earn an ARIA Award nomination for Best Rock Album.

Middle Kids will be touring off the back of recent single ‘Salt Eyes’, with the promise of new music not too far away!
