Bungie have released the newest season in Destiny 2, named Season of the Chosen.

In this season players will be able to earn powerful new Legendary and Exotic gear, run through new and returning Strikes, wield the Hammer of Proving against the Cabal, and fight for honour in the new seasonal Battlegrounds activity.

Empress Caiatl, daughter of Calus and leader of the Cabal, seeks out Zavala for an alliance with the Vanguard. When Zavala refuses to kneel, threats are exchanged by both sides. Guardians must preemptively strike at her growing army while continuing to fend off the destabilizing influence of Xivu Arath.

In Season of the Chosen, Guardians will fight against Caiatl’s chosen warriors in Battlegrounds, a new matchmade activity for three players.

At the start of Season 13, The Devil’s Lair and Fallen S.A.B.E.R. Strikes will return from Destiny at the beginning of the season, with the Proving Grounds strike unlocking later.

In Proving Grounds, humanity’s champions will go up against the Cabal’s best to determine the Last City’s fate.

Season Pass owners will instantly unlock an Exotic bow called Ticuu’s Divination, which can charge and fire multiple Solar arrows with multi-target tracking. Season Pass owners will also get the new Seasonal Praefectus Armor Set.

Also coming in Season 13, over 25 Exotic, Legendary and ritual weapons will be dropping for all Guardians.

Season of the Chosen will run until 12th May (AEDT).

Today Bungie has released the next-gen versions of Destiny 2 on Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PlayStation 5, a completely free upgrade for Destiny 2 players.

The new consoles will allow Destiny fans to experience their favourite game in glorious 60fps and 4K resolution (Xbox Series S will run at 1080p, 60fps).

In addition, anyone who wants to test their mettle in the Crucible on next-gen consoles can opt to set the iconic PVP mode to 120fps on Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5.

Those who own Xbox One and PlayStation 4 consoles will still be able to play with friends who are on the next-gen versions, as Destiny 2 owners will be able to play across console generation in the same console family. Also, owners of Destiny 2 on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 will get free upgrades to the Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PlayStation 5 version of Destiny 2 for all existing content.

Bungie is excited to bring Destiny 2 home to the newest generation of consoles, with a keen eye on what this may bring in the future for console players.

As part of Season of the Hunt, returning from the original Destiny is the fan-favorite Exotic Hand Cannon Hawkmoon. Work with Crow to reclaim and restore this storied weapon.

Return to the realm of the IX with the Prophecy dungeon. Face hordes of Taken and manipulate reality to solve intricate puzzles alongside fellow Guardians. What was once above is now below. And what was once Light is now Dark.

Bungie’s Guardians for Australia fundraising campaign is now live on the Bungie Store to support both Australia’s firefighting efforts and the country’s animal rescue and conservation efforts.

The bush fires currently ravaging Australia have been devastating. Many people have lost their homes, firefighters are risking their lives daily, and an estimated hundreds of millions of wild animals have fallen victim to the fires.

All profits will directly be donated to both WIRES, Australia’s largest wildlife rescue organization, and NSW Rural Fire Service, which services the state of New South Wales, where the fires have been especially devastating and are in dire need of containment.

Bungie have developed a limited time Guardians for Australia T-shirt, which comes with an exclusive Destiny 2 “Star Light, Star Bright” emblem redemption code with purchase that is now available for pre-order on the Bungie Store between today, Friday, January 17th and Wednesday, February 19th 2020 at 3AM AEST, ending with the weekly reset and the end of Crimson Days.

Destiny 2 has attracted legions of dedicated fans and has been enjoyed by millions of gamers around the world since launching in 2017. Now, that fanbase is set to grow as new Guardians will be able to enter the world of Destiny 2 for free in November. To celebrate an entire year on PC, Bungie and Activision, in collaboration with Blizzard Entertainment, announce that from now until November 19th, 2018 in Australia and New Zealand everyone on Blizzard’s Battle.net gaming platform who has not already purchased Destiny 2, or any new members joining Battle.net will have the opportunity to claim the game as a free gift.

Destiny 2 will be available on the Battle.net app to claim for free for a little more than two weeks in November, and players will have the opportunity to download the game once they’ve claimed it.  New Battle.net accounts created after 5:00 a.m. AEDT on November 3, 2018, will be required to enable Blizzard SMS Protect before claiming their game license.  Destiny 2 is redeemable from HERE.

Existing players of Destiny 2 PC will receive an exclusive emblem not available anywhere else, which becomes available in December 2018, to commemorate the first anniversary of being on Battle.net.  Additionally, new Guardians will have the opportunity to try out Destiny 2: Forsaken’s new mode “Gambit,” from November the 10th through to the 12th, 2018 in Australia and New Zealand, during the Gambit Free Weekend. Gambit is a 4v4 hybrid activity included with Destiny 2: Forsaken.

Bungie, High Moon Studios, and Activision deliver Destiny 2: Forsaken, available now for download on PlayStation 4, the Xbox One, Xbox One X, and PC. The PC version will be available exclusively on Battle.net, Blizzard Entertainment’s online-gaming platform.

The genre-defining Destiny franchise has received global acclaim since its release in 2014.  The latest offering, Destiny 2: Forsaken, brings with it the most transformative moment in Destiny history, changing the way players fight, and deepening and broadening character progression by giving the player more freedom of choice.  Forsaken will reinforce the hobby players have come to celebrate over the years.  Players will travel to the lawless edge of the solar system and dive deep into a new frontier filled with enemies, allies, and untold mysteries, to avenge the death of beloved character Cayde-6.  Featuring an all-new cooperative and competitive activity called Gambit and an evolving endgame destination called The Dreaming City, Forsaken tells a dark and revengeful story in the Destiny universe.

Destiny 2 must be seen in light of the original Destiny, (Destiny 1). Destiny 2 is so much a response or reply to Bungie’s original 2014 efforts that Destiny 1 is the most natural prism through which we can view this new entry. Many thought Destiny 1’s The Taken King to be Destiny, but it is not until you play Destiny 2 until you see how it’s potential can be properly realised.

Destiny 2 retains the core Destiny experience. The same quasi-MMO always-online first person shooter. The same UI, the same, mechanically-perfect shooting, the same quest for loot. If you were to take fifteen or thirty seconds of Destiny 2 footage and show it to someone, it could easily be mistaken for the original game. But there are so many small refinements, areas of the game that no longer give you papercuts, that the overall impact is one of a much smoother, easier to play and more engaging game. You have the feeling this is the Destiny that Bungie wanted to release, could have released, and now we know what it’s like.

Destiny 1 was already a fantastic looking game, and has aged very well over the lifespan of the current consoles. But you could tell that in certain areas the legacy consoles, the Xbox 360 and PS3, were holding the game’s design back. Developer Bungie was clearly champing at the bit to explore what was possible, unchained from the harsh system requirements of these two consoles, and the Rise of Iron expansion showed a small sliver of what was possible without them.

Destiny 2 takes this and expands itself out in almost every direction. While resolution (at least on base Xbox One and PS4 systems) and frame rate remain the same, overall graphical fidelity has been vastly improved. There are far more particle effects and post-processing effects, there’s far more on screen at any one time and it all runs flawlessly. It’s a beautiful game, and on my PS4 Pro, with the resolution downsampled to 1080p from checkerboarded 2160p 4K, image quality is phenomenal.

Destiny has always had great lore, but it was frustratingly locked away in Grimoire cards on Destiny’s website.

The story was famously scrapped nearly at the last second and what remained in the original game was confusing, scattergun and generally a mess. This has all changed in Destiny 2. The story, while only good, is a huge step up for the series. Characters are now actually interesting, and can be found in story missions and even in the field (where they act as vendors). This is part of a concerted effort to fill up the world with interest things to do. In the original Destiny, although you could visit the world for patrols, they felt fairly empty. In addition to the campaign missions there are “Adventures” – side missions that take anywhere between 10 to 30 minutes to complete. There are also “Lost Sectors” hidden around the map that are longer, and have better rewards. The single player missions themselves are longer and more varied, and blow past the mini horde modes that took up so much of the first game.

But for me the best and biggest change was public events are now visible on your map. No need for separate apps or websites. I’ve already played far more public events than in my entire time with Destiny 1, because it’s so easy to drop into an event about to start or even in progress. That’s aided by much faster loading times that let you get to planets in time. My only complaint is that sparrows are now a loot drop; you don’t get them by default anymore. This means running everywhere until one drops, and it is almost embarrassing when the rest of your teammates have them and you don’t so you have to trail behind them.

The Crucible returns to Destiny, with some major changes. Gone are 6v6 battles, replaced by 4v4. I felt that the general pace of battle was slower, meaning that teamwork is now more important than ever. Moving in groups helps to ensure security in numbers, and reduces the chance that in Supremacy the opposing team will pick up your crests. Now I vastly prefer the non-Crucible Player vs Environment parts of Destiny, but for those who enjoy Player vs Player, they’ll be pleased to know that the Crucible remains an essential part of the Destiny 2 experience.

Sitting on top of both the PvE and PvP are an enormous number of quality of life changes and improvements to core Destiny systems. For example, if you’re near the top of a ledge, you can now mantle up rather than slowly float hopelessly to the ground again. You can now open the Director at any time, rather than having to go to orbit. Load times are now much faster, and there are fast travel locations on a map in each planet. There are many more improvements that make the original Destiny feel janky in comparison.

Overall, it leads to a smoother experience that feels like driving asphalt rather than gravel.

It’s strange to give Destiny 2 a review so close to its release.

The Destiny of 2017 is nothing like the Destiny 1 of 2014 when it came out. Now Destiny 1 had so many flaws that Destiny 2 doesn’t, that it in a sense doesn’t have to change as much. It is already very good and doesn’t need as much work as the original did.

But as content rolls out, we become used to them, and almost everyone plays at the endgame rather than through the story. Destiny 2 will feel like a very different game. But from what I’ve played, this is a substantial update of the original game in almost every way. Better graphics, better story, better missions, better, better, better. There are so many more quality of life improvements I haven’t even had space to mention. While at times Destiny 2 can feel a bit like Destiny 1.5, it really has been expanded and sanded down and buffed to a slick sheen.

Destiny 2 knows what it is and is so much better for it.

A. and the PlayStation E3 2017 Media Showcase has just come to a close at The Shrine Auditorium in central Los Angeles, bringing with it all manner of gaming news. As expected, PlayStation put on a show for it’s fans at E3 2017 to showcase up and coming titles with extended features streamed for us, the attending audience and the rest of the PlayStation gamers around the world.

We saw spectacular new trailers for the likes of God of War, Days Gone, Spider-Man, Call of Duty WWII, Destiny 2 and Detroit: Become Human; alongside a host of new game reveals, including Shadow of the Colossus for PS4, new PlayStation VR horror The Inpatient, the new PlayLink range, and Monster Hunter: World from Capcom. And that’s to name but a few.

PlayStation E3 Conference 2017

Then it was on to the really good stuff – games.

We were introduced to Moss.

A PSVR exclusive where you are both guiding the hero Quill with the gamepad and at the same time reaching in and interacting with the environment directly.

Moss tells the tale of the first adventure of an unlikely hero named Quill—a small mouse from a remote forest settlement who is fated to be the key in a much larger story. One day while exploring the woods she finds a mysterious stone and an ancient magic is awakened, linking you together in an extraordinary alliance.

In gameplay, her skills are complementary to yours. You’ll guide her actions through familiar action-adventure controls, while also directly manipulating the field of play as your own character. Mutual communication and shared victories will only strengthen your connection to each other and further your joint resolve.

It’s very cute and a definite play for any PSVR fan.

Moss – PSVR

God of War was astounding and looking signature to it’s very lengthy legend. Details revealed were that  this new God of War title will differ from previous editions in the series.

Having been built from the ground up this title featuring a vastly different looking Kratos will be Single Player only (at this stage) a step away from the inclusion of multiplayer as introduced in God of War Ascension.

God of War will be more like an RPG where players will craft an earn knowledge points to better skill and equip themselves. Furthermore having always been a third person actioner, there is a camera adjustment, where the play view will above the right shoulder – as is now common place (and better in my opinion) in similar games.

The Rage ability that we are familair with will have a make-over with Spartan Rage, a timed ability. We can expect Kratos to own our PS4’s once again in 2018.

God of War – PlayStation 4

At last years E3 PlayStation debuted their upcoming open-world action title Days Gone By, where you play as Deacon, set in set in the beautiful high desert of the Pacific Northwest two years after a pandemic has transformed the world. This year the title was touched upon again with some crisp looking new demo footage.

Days Gone By is shaping up to be a title worth waiting for.

We also meet Marcus from Detroit: Become Human.

Detroit: Become Human is Quantic Dream’s next title, for both PlayStation 4 and PS4 Pro. It is a neo-noir existential thriller, set in a near future, where androids look, speak, and move like human beings, and operate in society at every level from manufacturers to teachers. It is not long before a more human element starts to come effect for the Androids and they begin to desire freedom…

Markus (played by Jesse Williams) is an android who escaped his master and joined a small group of deviants hiding underground in Detroit.

The new scene we witnessed at E3 this year, Markus executes a covert operation during a cold Detroit night, with the aim of freeing androids that are for sale in a store. If he succeeds, Markus will have the opportunity to send a strong message to humans.

And not forgetting the simulator / petrol-head PlayStation fans, the mighty Gran Turismo was also featured, with Tokyo Expressway and Nürburgring circuits highlighted in new gameplay footage shown and we learned of the inclusion of the Bathurst track.

Gran Turismo Sport (GT Sport) releases this coming Autumn, exclusively on PlayStation 4.

Of course the new Uncharted: Lost Legacy which is just around the corner premiered. we learned more about the set pieces, the puzzles, cinematic storytelling, and exotic locales and a more indepth telling of the  completely new story with Chloe Frazer at the helm.

Cloe is on the hunt for the legendary golden Tusk of Ganesh forged by the ancient Hoysala Empire, and to find it, she enlists the help of Nadine Ross. However, if there’s anything we know about Chloe and Nadine, it’s that they both keep things close to the vest. Over the course of the story, we’ll explore Chloe and Nadine’s struggle to trust one another.

Uncharted: Lost Legacy releases worldwide, exclusively for PlayStation 4 on the 23rd of August, 2017.

Shadow of the Colossus – PlayStation 4 Remaster

This generation of gaming has seen alot of remasters, we and the rest of the audience were both surprised and elated at the reveal of the re-worked Shadow of the Colussus. A groundbreaking game that originally released on the PlayStation 2 back in 2005.

Being fully re-rendered Shadow of the Colossus is a definite welcome to the PlayStation 4 library and is essentially a game that works and is ideal for the console.

In other bits that were covered, the mighty Farpoint is getting some DLC called the Cryo Pack, a new PSVR co-op title called Bravo Team, an intriguing horror title for PSVR; The Inpatient, Knack gets a sequel and Monster Hunter is making a welcome return to PlayStation with Monster Hunter: World.

Then there was the Spiderman Demo.

Spiderman – PlayStation 4

Based on the Marvel franchise this new Spiderman title mixes up the familiar with the unexpected.

Avoiding a retelling of his origin story the new Spider-Man features a 23-year-old Peter Parker who has become a masterful Spider-Man. While he may be more experienced, Peter and Spider-Man’s worlds continue to collide as he tries to juggle them.

PlayStation showed off a real-time gameplay demo where Spider-Man has arrived at a construction site owned by Wilson Fisk (a.k.a. the Kingpin). Fisk’s men are under assault by a gang known as the Inner Demons, and Spider-Man has to stop the bloodshed. In the process, he learns that Martin Li, one of the city’s most prominent philanthropists, secretly leads the Inner Demons via his alter-ego, Mr. Negative.

Martin Li runs the F.E.A.S.T. shelters all across town which only further complicates things for Peter Parker’s personal life, as his beloved Aunt May works at F.E.A.S.T.

It was fast paced, smooth and enough superhero eyecandy to satiate even the hardest of critics. The demo displayed the mechanics of gameplay. Spider-Man’s more powerful improvisational and acrobatic combat style with honed skills making him stronger and more confident in combat. Dodging, using webs, and aerial combat are all second nature.

We saw usage of Web Trip Wire and impact webs. Spiderman on PlayStation 4 will introduce many new gadgets and devices that can be used as during the course of the game.

In all the PlayStation Conference was a spectacular moment for gaming as a whole. With PlayStation having the inclusion of Virtual Reality (VR) via the PSVR it was pleasing to see this medium continually evolve and grow with new titles pushing the capabilities.

At the conclusion of the two hour Conference gamers and media alike were left with a sense of impatient-ness – wanting to play and own all of what we just witnessed.

The year ahead for PlayStation and PlayStation 4 / PSVR owners is an exciting one indeed.

Activision is set to kick off this year’s Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) with global debuts from the industry’s leading franchises. Beginning Tuesday, June 13 2017, at the LA Convention Center, attendees will experience the first gameplay premiere of Call of Duty: WWII multiplayer, the new character-driven story and activities of Destiny 2, and the reimagined and beloved Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy.

“Some of the most talked about and highly anticipated entertainment experiences of the year aren’t playing at your local movie theatre, inside a stadium or on the airwaves; they are happening at E3, as interactive entertainment takes centre stage of pop culture,” said Eric Hirshberg, CEO of Activision. “And we are thrilled to be front and centre with two of the most hotly anticipated games of the year, Call of Duty: WWII and Destiny 2, both of which will be playable at E3. Call of Duty: WWII marks a return to the fast action, grounded roots of Call of Duty.  E3 2017 celebrates the world reveal of the all-new multiplayer.  Developed by Sledgehammer Games, Call of Duty: WWII offers a host of new Multiplayer modes, features and gameplay innovations set in iconic World War II locations in the European theatre of war.

Players will enlist in the conflict by selecting from five iconic World War II Divisions, in a fundamentally new way to invest in your multiplayer career. Join the Airborne Division, the first to the fight, where you move fast and stay quiet; the Mountain Division, where a sharp shooter focus is precise and deadly; the Infantry Division as the tip of the spear; the Armored Division, which brings the heaviest firepower; or the Expeditionary Force who is packing heat with incendiary shells. In addition to the core Multiplayer experience available for hands-on gameplay at E3, players will also play War Mode, developed in partnership with Raven Software, a narrative-based mode pitting Allied versus Axis soldiers in team-driven battles for key strategic objectives.

Call of Duty: WWII multiplayer also features Headquarters, a franchise first reimagining of the Call of Duty Multiplayer ecosystem, giving the community entirely new ways to connect, compete and engage.

Call of Duty: WWII pre-orders at participating retailers include access to the Private Beta, available first on PlayStation 4, scheduled for later this year. At E3, players can get their first PS4 Pro hands-on experience with the new Multiplayer at the Activision booth in the South Hall and in the PlayStation booth in the West Hall.

Following the epic, global Destiny 2 Gameplay Premiere which took place in May, Activision and Bungie will showcase Destiny 2, providing an array of hands-on experiences for attendees where they can play the all-new story campaign as well as competitive, and cooperative multiplayer gameplay.  In addition, the playable debut of a brand-new Guardian subclass, the Arcstrider Hunter, will be available, whose “super” ability is to summon an Arc-empowered staff to be used for close-quarters melee combat.

Attendees are invited to play Destiny 2 on PS4 Pro in the Activision booth in the South Hall and PlayStation’s booth in the West Hall, and on PC in NVIDIA’s booth in the West Hall.

Crash is back, as Activision is rolling out the orange carpet at E3! The iconic marsupial of gaming will make his appearance at E3 where players can play new Levels in HD from the remastered Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy. More innovations to the franchise will be announced at the show, and players can experience the fun first-hand by visiting the N. Sane Crash Experience in the South Hall lobby for hands-on gameplay, photo opportunities and daily giveaways.

Bungie and Activision have announced Destiny 2, the sequel to the internationally acclaimed Destiny, a first-person action game that takes the player on an epic journey to defend humanity from annihilation. The official Destiny 2 reveal trailer, “Rally the Troops,” debuted a character-driven glimpse at Destiny 2’s story today.

Additionally, the first hands-on gameplay reveal livestream will be broadcast around the world on May 18.  The broadcast will showcase a variety of fun, action-oriented activities within Destiny 2, and will highlight the brand-new, epic adventure waiting for players. With a fresh start for all players right from the opening cinematic, Destiny 2 will expand across the globe with a worldwide release on September 8th, 2017.  Destiny 2 will be available on PlayStation 4 systems with additional timed exclusive content, Xbox One (PlayStation Plus or Xbox Live Gold subscription, respectively, required for significant features), and for the first time in Destiny’s history, a new platform to enjoy this universe will be offered.  Destiny 2 is coming to PC!

In Destiny 2, the last safe city on Earth has fallen and lay in ruins, occupied by a powerful new enemy and his elite army, the Red Legion. Every player creates their own character called a “Guardian,” humanity’s chosen protectors.  As a Guardian in Destiny 2, players must master new abilities and weapons to reunite the city’s forces, stand together and fight back to reclaim their home. The official Destiny 2 reveal trailer, “Rally the Troops,” shows two of the Vanguard, leaders of the Guardians, inspiring the people of the last city in an impassioned (and occasionally sarcastic) call to arms.

In Destiny 2 players will answer this call, embarking on a fresh story filled with new destinations around our solar system to explore, and an expansive amount of activities to discover.  There is something for almost every type of gamer in Destiny 2, including gameplay for solo, cooperative and competitive players set within a vast, evolving and exciting universe.
