Capcom has revealed Onimusha: Way of the Sword.

The action game is an all-new adventure in the classic Onimusha franchise. The series’ first new instalment in nearly two decades, Onimusha: Way of the Sword, returns to a dark fantasy feudal Japan where samurai clash with the supernatural in cutting-edge combat.

Onimusha is rooted in the Sengoku period, Japan’s legendary age of warring states. The games infuse history with Japanese folklore to tell tales of warriors who wield the mystical power of the Oni. These heroes are drawn into conflict with the Genma, relentless monsters hellbent on conquering the world. The franchise debuted in 2001 and instantly captivated players with its satisfying sword-based combat and exhilarating “Issen” counterattack mechanics.

The series also gained recognition for its spellbinding stories portraying historical figures and real events in a dark fantasy setting. Now, having grown in popularity as one of Capcom’s best-selling properties, Onimusha is entering a whole new era.

Onimusha: Way of the Sword takes place in Kyoto during the early Edo period. In this time of relative peace for Japan, Malice has befallen the ancient city. Twisted into an eerie and unsettling place, Kyoto has been infested by the demonic Genma. In the debut trailer for Onimusha: Way of the Sword, a lone samurai armed with the Oni Gauntlet engages in fierce, blood-soaked sword fights with these hellish creatures from another world.

The Resident Evil 4 VR Mode Gameplay Demo is also out now on the PlayStation Store. Resident Evil 4 VR Mode transports players directly to into the game’s nightmarish world and allows them to truly become Leon S. Kennedy. Players can now come face to face with Ganados and other frightening foes that feel as if they are right there. Players can get up close and personal and interact with their surroundings in new ways with the realistic VR controls. The PlayStation VR2 Sense™ controllers allow for immersive inputs across puzzle-solving, exploration, and combat. Every tool in Leon’s arsenal is represented in incredible detail with haptic feedback that makes each firearm feel unique right down to the trigger. Weapons also include specific mechanics that are performed with authentic gestures, such as reloading shotguns with pumping actions or swinging Leon’s knife to execute parries and melee attacks.

Resident Evil 4 VR Mode supports the full main story campaign and delivers an added level of immersion to Leon S. Kennedy’s harrowing rescue mission. The experience lets players see the terrifying world directly through Leon’s eyes and soak in his surroundings with the 4K HDR display of PlayStation VR2. Resident Evil 4 VR Mode further enhances the atmosphere with 3D audio so players can hear the threats lurking around every corner.

In addition to grounding players in this hostile environment, Resident Evil 4 VR Mode heightens the realism with PlayStation VR2 Sense technology. The intuitive controls provide new ways to interact with the world.
