We at Pop Stop love our Sideshow collectibles and are proudly reviewing the Alien Queen Maquette (video review above) which has been created in partnership with Legacy Effects, the talent behind the cinematic terror of the Xenomorphs.

The Alien Queen Maquette stands 19″ tall, with the monstrous matriarch prowling atop an intricate egg chamber base. The nightmarish Xenomorph brood beneath her feet features an elaborate array of Alien Eggs, Facehuggers, and two Alien Warriors all in standing scale with their Queen.
This immensely detailed polystone maquette captures the terror and unforgettable presence of the Alien Queen as seen in the film Aliens.

The massive Xenomorph’s body is sculpted in the same biomechanical style for which H.R. Giger’s creatures are famous, with sinewy limbs and a segmented PVC tail curling protectively around her hellish offspring. Pointed polyresin fangs reveal the creature’s iconic inner jaw, while her flared head crown gives the Alien Queen incredible stature on any shelf.

When I saw Lord Of The Rings in theatres for the first time, the Mines of Moria sequence was one I was looking forward to the most… all because of the vivid image I had in my mind of The Balrog from reading the books. Weta did not disappoint! 

This hand-painted bust, sculpted by artists who worked on the Lord of the Rings films and measures over 19 inches tall and is limited to only 666 pieces worldwide. What makes this bust special is that it comes with unique LED lighting to re-create the flames in The Balrog.

This has to be one of the most impressive statues I have ever seen.

The Kryptonian destroyer is most famous for killing Superman in the death of Superman Graphic Novel, he stands a monstrous 69cms tall. 

Sideshow’s Doomsday Maquette, will spell certain doom to the heroes of the DC universe. Has the Justice League finally met their match? 

Doomsday stands astride a rubble environment base littered with relics from the valiant heroes who have fallen in his wake. Wonder Woman’s sword, Aquaman’s trident, and Batman’s cowl all serve as trophies at Doomsday’s feet while a number of Batarangs are embedded into his chest and shoulders. In his right hand he clutches the fabric tatters of Superman’s cape, which includes internal wiring for posing and can be removed from the figure.

On his left hand, the villain has forced an inert Green Lantern ring onto his finger in a brutal display of force.

While the Alien vs Predator movies weren’t great they did give us some awesome new characters.

One of the best is the Wolf Predator.

In Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem. Wolf Predator, has responded to a distress signal and travelled to Earth with a plan to kill all Aliens. As the elite member of the Predator, he has proven himself as a daunting warrior and dreadful hunter with a large collection of trophies from many different species and a large arsenal of weapons! He has remained one of the most popular warriors in Alien vs. Predator series among fans.

There’s no denying that Sideshow Collectibles are a premium must have.

Recently they have released two licensed DC Comic limited edition Joker statues at 20 inches.

The first is a more traditional looking Joker – almost harkening back to the classic days when The Joker used deadly gags and gadgets on Gotham City and of course against his lifetime nemesis; Batman.

Constructed from a solid and hard resin – The Joker can be seen frozen amid action as he ground pounds the street of Gotham, releasing a toxic gas.

The second statue from Sideshow is a more darker version of The Joker – The Nightmare Statue.

A complete lineage to the legend, his body-work is made up of everything that is within The Joker’s world. Tormented and twisted faces are meticulously crafted from his jacket.

The deeply sinister grimace on his face is almost horror film-esque as his long wiry body arches towards you – a flower with poison ready to be sprayed in your direction.

Both The Joker Sideshow Collectibles are excruciatingly detailed – both a work of art, numbered and a very limited release. Both are available now at Pop Stop NZ.
