The third time might genuinely be the charm for Street Fighter on the big screen. Paramount Pictures and Legendary have dropped the first full trailer for the 2026 Street Fighter movie, and it leans hard into ’90s nostalgia, arcade-faithful fight choreography, and a surprisingly heartfelt rivalry between Ryu and Ken. After two adaptations that most fans would rather forget, this one actually looks like it watched the source material.

The nearly three-minute trailer, released on 16 April ahead of a CinemaCon presentation in Las Vegas, sets up a 1993-set story built around the World Warrior Tournament, with Noah Centineo’s washed-up Ken Masters dragged back into the fight by Callina Liang’s Chun-Li. It also puts Hadoukens, Shoryukens and Hundred Lightning Legs on screen without looking embarrassed about it, which is frankly a first for this franchise.

What the Street Fighter Trailer Actually Shows

The trailer opens on Ken in full has-been celebrity mode, screaming through off-key karaoke on what looks like a cringeworthy MTV-style variety show. Centineo plays him as a bleached-blond burnout who has clearly coasted on a fighting career that peaked years ago. It is a bold read on a character fans usually picture as the cocky rich kid, and it is the first sign the film is willing to mess with expectations.

Chun-Li arrives to pull him out of that spiral. Liang plays her as an Interpol-coded operator with a personal grudge, recruiting Ken for the upcoming World Warrior Tournament while making it clear she has already signed his estranged best friend Ryu.

Andrew Koji’s Ryu is the exact opposite energy, a solitary martial artist training alone in the quiet, and the visual match to the in-game character is uncanny.

From there the trailer turns into a highlight reel of moves pulled straight from the games. Ken lands his Shoryuken uppercut and a Jinrai Kick lifted directly from current Street Fighter titles. Chun-Li unleashes the Hundred Lightning Legs. Olivier Richters’ Zangief drops what looks like a piledriver on Ken. Joe Anoa’i’s Akuma hurtles in wreathed in dark energy for a move called Empyrean’s End.

And the whole thing builds to Ryu gathering chi in his palms and finally delivering the word every fan has been waiting to hear on screen: “Hadouken.”

The Plot Leans Into Ryu and Ken’s Broken Friendship

Rather than treating the tournament as the whole movie, the story hangs on the fractured relationship between Ryu and Ken. The two are estranged former best friends and rivals forced to patch things up once Chun-Li pulls them into the bracket, all while M. Bison (David Dastmalchian) uses the tournament as cover for a larger criminal conspiracy tied to the death of Chun-Li’s father.

It is a smart structural choice. Street Fighter as a game series has never carried much of a narrative, and leaning on the Ryu and Ken dynamic gives the film an emotional through-line that does not require rewriting the lore. The trailer even finds room for quick character beats, including a throwaway jab Chun-Li trades with Mel Jarnson’s Cammy about her famously muscular legs, the kind of wink that only lands if the filmmakers actually know the fanbase.

Save the World now sits alongside Battle Royale, Zero Build, and the rest of Fortnite’s main modes in the Discovery section of the lobby, available to every Fortnite player at no cost.

What Save The World Actually Is

For anyone who only knows Fortnite as the battle royale phenomenon, Save the World is the game’s original identity. It’s a co-op survival shooter where up to four players take on objective-based missions across destructible open-world maps, building forts, setting traps, and fighting off waves of monsters called Husks.

Players pick from four hero classes, Soldiers, Constructors, Ninjas, and Outlanders, each with their own playstyle. The loop mixes scavenging, crafting, base-building, and combat, with a progression system that rewards levelling up heroes and weapon schematics over time.

It’s a very different game from Battle Royale, closer in spirit to tower defence mashed with a looter-shooter, and it predates the 100-player format that made Fortnite a household name.

How To Claim The Free Skin And Crossover Rewards

To celebrate the free-to-play move, Epic has rolled out a set of crossover quests that link Save the World with Battle Royale, and a handful of rewards up for grabs in both modes.

On the Battle Royale side, players can find the Jess NPC on the island and start a quest chain. Completing three of her quests unlocks the ability to purchase the Super Shredder weapon from her, limited to one per match. Finish 12 of her quests and the Super Shredder schematic becomes available to use in Save the World itself.

The headline reward is the Jess skin, which unlocks after earning 350,000 XP in Save the World. It’s usable across all of Fortnite once unlocked, so even players who only dabble in the PvE mode can carry the cosmetic back into Battle Royale.

Existing and returning Save the World players aren’t left empty-handed either. Epic is handing out thank-you rewards including superchargers, vouchers, and gold to long-time players on the same day the mode went free.

Save The World Platform Availability

The free-to-play launch has also brought Save the World to Nintendo Switch 2, marking the first time the mode has been playable on a Nintendo platform. That’s a notable addition given Save the World’s long-standing absence from the Switch family of systems.

Not every platform made the cut, though. The mode remains unavailable on the original Nintendo Switch, mobile devices, and cloud streaming services. Epic hasn’t indicated any plans to bring Save the World to those platforms, and re-engineering the mode for them would be a significant undertaking.

From $40 Flop To Free Mode

Save the World’s journey to free-to-play is a strange one. When Fortnite launched in July 2017, Save the World was the entire game, sold at a $40 price tag with an early access label. That spin-off exploded, eclipsed its parent mode within months, and turned Fortnite into the cultural juggernaut and de facto metaverse it is today.

Save the World, meanwhile, stayed paid, and over the years faded into the background. It kept a committed player base, particularly among those who used it to grind battle pass XP, but it rarely made headlines and received limited content updates compared to Battle Royale’s relentless release cadence.

Dropping the paywall nine years later effectively reframes the mode as a side offering bundled into the free Fortnite ecosystem, rather than a standalone product that has to justify its price tag.

The Bigger Question: What Happens Next

The move opens Save the World up to the biggest audience it’s ever had, but the future of the mode is less clear. Epic conducted major layoffs in March, and maintaining Save the World, let alone expanding it with new story missions, maps, or major features, is resource-intensive work on an ageing codebase.

Whether Epic invests in new content will likely hinge on how many of Fortnite’s hundreds of millions of players actually stick with Save the World now that there’s no cost barrier. A sustained wave of new players could justify fresh development. A quick spike followed by drop-off probably won’t.

For now, the door is open. Anyone with Fortnite installed can boot up Save the World, pick a hero class, and find out whether the mode that started it all still has a place in 2026.

BC.Game have officially confirmed Maidar “nocries” Baldanov as their stand-in for IEM Atlanta 2026, lining up the 18-year-old FACEIT phenom for what will be his debut on the Tier 1 professional stage. The announcement came from CEO Ali “akofocus” Muhanned during a stream before being posted to the team’s social channels, and it slots nocries into a BC.Game lineup that has spent the last week in visible flux.

The Mongolian-born, US-based player will sit alongside Oleksandr “s1mple” Kostyliev, Denis “electroNic” Sharipov and Adones “krazy” Nobre for the event, with Wiktor “TaZ” Wojtas continuing as head coach. BC.Game are currently operating with only three active players after benching Christopher “MUTiRiS” Fernandes and António “aragornN” Barbosa last week, and the second stand-in slot is yet to be filled.

Why BC.Game Needed A Stand-In

The roster shuffle is the latest chapter in a messy stretch for BC.Game. The team entered 2026 built around a four-man SAW core signed in January, but that project fell apart quickly after a disappointing run at PGL Bucharest, where they were eliminated by FOKUS before the playoffs. Six teams remain, two quarter-finals open the stage, and the headline draw is Natus Vincere getting a shot at Vitality just months after losing the BLAST Open Rotterdam grand final to them 3-0. Falcons and FURIA sit in the semi-finals already, waiting on the winners.

MOUZ and Spirit meeting in a quarter-final is the second time these two have crossed paths at a big event in 2026. The last meeting, the third-place decider at IEM Krakow, went Spirit’s way in a fairly clean two-map series. MOUZ will be looking to flip that result here, with the stakes significantly higher than a bronze medal match.

The series went the distance, with Falcons taking Mirage 13-10, Vitality responding with a 13-6 drubbing on Dust2, and the decider on Nuke going to overtime before Falcons closed it out 16-14. For a team that had not dropped a match since before IEM Katowice, it was the kind of loss that reshapes a bracket.

Nuke Decider Slips Away In Overtime

Nuke was where the match was lost rather than won. Vitality started the decider on a brutal 3-9 scoreline on the Terrorist side, and the defensive half that followed was one of the gutsier showings of the tournament. Robin “ropz” Kool dragged the team back into contention almost single-handedly, and for a stretch it looked like they might actually pull off the comeback.

On the other side of the server, Ilya “m0NESY” Osipov continued what has been a ridiculous tournament for him personally. The Falcons AWPer posted a 1.41 series rating with a 59-45 K-D and 90.5 ADR, leading the IEM Rio stats charts by a comfortable margin heading into the playoffs.

He was the most consistent presence on the server across all three maps, and on Nuke specifically he came through in the rounds that mattered. Damjan “kyxsan” Stoilkovski also deserves a mention for his Mirage performance, which set the tone for the series in the opening map.

Vitality’s Road To The Grand Slam Gets Harder

Vitality had come into IEM Rio eyeing their second ESL Grand Slam, and before this series they had barely been tested. Cracks had started to show in the group stage, where they scraped past a G2 side playing with a stand-in, and Dan “apEX” Madesclaire has openly spoken about the mental weight of chasing the Grand Slam.

Now the bracket gets ugly. They drop to the quarter-finals, where they will face the winner of the other group’s lower final between Natus Vincere and Aurora. The upcoming animated film Avatar: Aang, The Last Airbender has been leaked online months before its official Paramount+ premiere, and the people who spent years making it are not happy about it. Animator Julia Schoel called the leak “incredibly disrespectful,” while colleagues have urged fans to support the official release so that future Avatar films can still happen.

How The Film Ended Up Online

On 12 April, X/Twitter user @ImStillDissin posted around three minutes of footage from the film, claiming that Nickelodeon “accidentally” emailed them the entire movie. The two clips offered the first real look at the project’s animation, new voice cast, and key plot moments, including previously unknown cast members like Ke Huy Quan as Avatar Xian and Ken Jeong as the Cabbage Merchant.

The posts racked up over 100,000 likes before being hit with a copyright strike. The clips now display the message “this media has been disabled in response to a report by the copyright owner,” which strongly suggests the footage was genuine. Paramount has not publicly commented on the leak.

The first clip showed Team Avatar reunited as adults, healing an ancient Airbender named Tagah (voiced by Dave Bautista) who had been trapped in ice. The second appeared to be from later in the film, featuring Tagah attempting to pull a temple from the Spirit World, with a creature called a Gorillavark voiced by Taika Waititi appearing as a result.

The footage also confirmed the film’s 2D hand-drawn characters set against 3D computer-animated environments. For a project that has been almost entirely shrouded in mystery, with no official trailer released, the leak effectively spoiled several major reveals in one go.

Paramount’s Shift From Theatres To Streaming

Part of what made the leak so explosive among the fanbase is the context around it. In December, Paramount scrapped plans for a theatrical release and announced the film would launch exclusively on Paramount+ on 9 October 2026. The decision made Paramount+ the exclusive home for all Avatar Studios content, including the original series Avatar: Seven Havens.

Schoel acknowledged that Paramount’s decision to pull the film from theatres was an “awful decision,” but argued that it does not justify leaking the movie months before release. She drew a distinction between piracy and a pre-release leak, explaining that leaking a film before launch “undermines the entire effort at its most vulnerable moment,” robbing the project of its marketing buildup, premieres, and the chance to reach audiences through official channels. That, she said, directly harms the film’s reputation and affects future opportunities for the artists involved.

Bright said it “breaks my heart to see the way some fans are treating the hard-working artists who dedicated years of their lives” to the project, and asked fans to remain respectful even if they disagree with the situation.

The world’s number one CS2 team needs just one more ESL Pro Tour title to complete the feat, and IEM Rio is the next opportunity on the calendar.

ESL’s “Giant Killer” Challenge

In a post on X ahead of IEM Rio’s opening day, ESL made no attempt to hide its excitement. The tournament organiser publicly begged the rest of the field to step up.

Both apEX and ropz have been open about where their focus lies. Speaking after Rotterdam, apEX described the event as “training for Rio, seeing what’s wrong,” adding that the team’s primary goal is to complete the Grand Slam as quickly as possible. Ropz echoed that mindset, noting that Rio and IEM Atlanta are the two opportunities before the IEM Cologne Major, but the aim is clear.

Vitality skipped PGL Bucharest entirely in the lead-up, giving themselves two full weeks of preparation. Their only blemish in 2026 so far has been a semi-final exit at BLAST Bounty Season 1 Finals. Every other event has ended with a trophy.

The IEM Rio Field and Key Absences

IEM Rio 2026 runs from April 13 to April 19 at Farmasi Arena in Rio de Janeiro, featuring 16 teams and a $1,000,000 total prize pool. The format uses double-elimination groups with all best-of-three matches, with three teams from each group advancing to a single-elimination playoff.

Vitality open against local side RED Canids in Group A, which also includes Team Spirit and Falcons. Group B features NAVI, MOUZ, G2, Liquid, and FURIA among others, giving the tournament plenty of depth across both halves of the bracket.

One notable absence looms over the event. G2’s Nemanja “huNter-” Kovac is set to miss IEM Rio due to injury, weakening one of the teams that might have posed a realistic threat deeper in the bracket. Ropz spoke after IEM Krakow about the squad’s awareness that their window, however dominant, will not last forever. “At some point, when the team will come to an end in a year or two, whenever, we want to look back and have no regrets,” he said.

A Grand Slam at Rio would also build further momentum towards the IEM Cologne Major in June. A victory there would give Vitality their fourth Major title and third in a row, tying Astralis’ record. If Vitality manage to win Rio without dropping a map, their streak would reach 33, one series short of the all-time Big Event record held by Ninjas in Pyjamas. ApEX has been characteristically blunt about the team’s ambitions, saying in Rotterdam: “We want to be better than Astralis. We’ve said it a couple of times, so here we go.”

Rockstar Games has been breached for the second time during Grand Theft Auto 6’s development, with hacker group ShinyHunters claiming to have accessed internal company data through a third-party cloud provider. The group has threatened to publish the stolen material online after its ransom demands were not met.

Rockstar has confirmed the breach but moved quickly to downplay its severity, stating that the incident has no impact on its operations or its players.

How The Breach Happened

ShinyHunters announced on 11 April that it had gained access to Rockstar’s servers through Anodot, a SaaS cloud-cost monitoring tool used by the studio. The group posted about the breach on its dark web leak site and set a ransom deadline of 14 April for Rockstar to pay up.

According to the hackers’ claims, the stolen data includes Rockstar’s financial records, player spending habits, marketing timelines, and contracts with outsourcing companies. ShinyHunters has not claimed to have accessed player passwords or personal account data, though security-conscious players may still want to change their Rockstar account passwords and enable two-factor authentication as a precaution.

Rockstar’s Response

In a statement sent to Insider Gaming, a Rockstar Games spokesperson said, “We can confirm that a limited amount of non-material company information was accessed in connection with a third-party data breach. This incident has no impact on our organisation or our players.”

Rockstar has confirmed it will not pay the ransom, which aligns with standard law enforcement guidance worldwide. Authorities consistently advise against paying cybercriminal ransoms, as doing so fuels the industry and offers no guarantee that hackers will actually delete stolen data.

As of the time of writing, no breached data from the hack has appeared online.

ShinyHunters is a prolific group of English-speaking cybercriminals believed to be teenagers. They previously claimed responsibility for a high-profile hack targeting ticket operator Ticketmaster.

The BBC, which spoke directly with the hackers, reported that ShinyHunters confirmed the stolen data would be published online because their demands had not been met.

The 2022 Rockstar Hack And Its Fallout

This is not the first time Rockstar has been targeted during GTA 6’s development. In 2022, an 18-year-old British hacker named Arion Kurtaj, part of a teen hacking gang called Lapsus$, breached Rockstar’s internal Slack channels and leaked over 90 in-development gameplay videos of GTA 6 across online forums.

That hack had a far more damaging impact. The leaked footage forced Rockstar to release its GTA 6 trailer ahead of schedule, and the breach reportedly caused significant delays to the game’s development. Kurtaj was eventually caught and given an indefinite hospital order following a court hearing, during which prosecutors described the leaked material as “highly confidential” given the franchise’s billion-dollar value.

Rockstar had reportedly strengthened its internal security following the Lapsus$ attack. The studio also recently fired more than 30 staff members in the UK and abroad, claiming they had discussed confidential information in a public forum. Those layoffs have drawn criticism, with affected employees alleging they were punished for efforts to establish a union.

What This Means For GTA 6

Unlike the 2022 breach, which exposed actual in-development game footage and source code, this latest hack appears to involve corporate and business data rather than game assets. Rockstar’s statement explicitly describes the accessed information as “non-material,” and there have been no claims from ShinyHunters that GTA 6 development files were compromised.

Shawn “FMPONE” Snelling, the legendary map designer behind Cache, has officially released his latest Counter-Strike 2 map. Titled Splinter, the defusal map launched on the Steam Workshop on 12 April 2026 and is free to download for all CS2 players. Set deep in the Canadian Rockies, it is Snelling’s first major independent release since Valve acquired the rights to his Cache remake last year.

A Sawmill In The Canadian Rockies

Splinter drops players into a mountainous industrial setting centred around a sawmill and logging operation surrounded by pristine wilderness. The map draws visual inspiration from Moraine Lake in the Canadian Rockies, and the Source 2 engine does a lot of the heavy lifting here, with high-fidelity textures, realistic material shaders, and detailed environmental lighting throughout the indoor workshop areas.

According to its Steam Workshop description, the scenario pits Terrorists against a mining and logging operation nestled in that wilderness. FMPONE credited contributors BlAcky, Thiago Lehmann, ConnorJC, and a group of secret testers for their work on the project.

Layout And Gameplay: A Spiritual Successor To De_Coaline

FMPONE has described Splinter as a remake of the classic map de_Coaline, carrying over a very similar layout. In practice, that means a heavy emphasis on verticality and narrow engagement lanes, which should feel quite different from the standard Active Duty rotation. Early player feedback suggests the vertical design gives the attacking side room to find unconventional angles, even when defenders stack smokes aggressively.

The bombsite layouts have also drawn favourable comparisons to established competitive maps like Inferno and Basalt, which is high praise for a community project barely days old. That said, this is very much a first public release. The map has already seen multiple updates since launch, with 13 change notes logged on the Workshop page as of 14 April.

Early Impressions: Stunning Visuals, Some Growing Pains

Community reception has been overwhelmingly positive on the visual front. Players have widely praised the Canadian wilderness aesthetic, with many calling it a new quality benchmark for community-made Source 2 content. On the flipside, the most common criticism so far involves optimisation. The sheer density of environmental detail has been causing noticeable frame rate drops, even on high-end hardware. What Comes Next For FMPONE

Splinter is Snelling’s second-to-last Counter-Strike map.
